You've built a big universe, you've fleshed out a lot of details, and you've tapped into what was termed "the anorak" in many of us when it comes to all the different ships etc now.
Reading the blog entry about Amazon screwing authors over, it just struck me that what you're actually describing is our mutual naivete - Amazon isn't a bookseller any more, and ebooks are the worst kind of book from their perspective. Amazon is a freight and warehousing company, and they want you to sell physical merchandise.
Maybe see if you can [have someone] put together some "official" 3D models on something like CG Trader, or 3D Cults; if there's interest, find a print-commission revenue thru one of the 3d-print sourcing services (they print, polish & ship, you get a small cut)?
