Toward the end of book 12 Prince Casmir shows Comander Dumar something in the Darvano system. What do you think it is?

That is where Corinair is so I originally thought he was referring to the asteroid base but after rereading the book I realized that had already been mentioned earlier in the book.

I was able to come up with a couple guesses.

First and very unlikely is a Jung ship was located, again very unlikely but would help to motivate help going to Nathan.

Second is that the Coranari have developed a large fabricator that can mas produce ships. This was mentioned in one of the earlier books as a possibility.

Anyone have any other speculations?

no chance being jung at 1000 light years distant

the karuzara base or the yamaro is more believable, since if you look, dumar was told they existed and he was surprised it had been under his nose in the system the whole time, but never went to the karuzara base

It's not the Yamaro or asteroid base as he had already visited the base when Casmir showed him the hologram of the Darvano system. I'm sure we will find out in the next book.

Location 4546 or close to it.

Cashmir says "It seems fate has once again smiled on captain Scott"

I don't think that either the Karuzara base or Yamaro is what he was talking about. The Yamaro was turned into a station inside of an asteroid, and the Karuzara base is known to all members of the alliance. What I think they found as an old Corinair built carrier. Sending 100x 402's sent to Earth, would stress the resources of the Aurora even more, and not really be help in the long term without resupply. They also couldn't of known that Aurora would have the space for the additional fighters, since they were fully manned or nearly, prior to engaging in battle around Earth.

That being said, I think there is an old carrier or maybe a sublight freighter that could be converted to a carrier in the Darvano system. Considering the difficulty of getting an asteroid moving in the right direction, any of the larger junkyard ships that they use, will have to come from the Darvano system.

I think you can get about 40-50 402 per ship. Plus some operating out of the asteroid base. Which is obviously being fitted with a jump drive.

Finding an old Coranairi ship would be pretty cool.

That is true, but when the request for support was sent, the Aurora was full on ships, and the Celestia was known to only be a a frame. They couldn't count on either ships holding another 20-50 ships. So what ever is coming, has to be able to launch and recover fighters.

Well its sound like the whole asteroid is coming. With them trying to reduce the mass and such. I am dying to know what is in the Darvano System that Casmir was looking at.

Hey Ryk, and hints?

Oh I missed that totally. I'm hoping a carrier. I've said b4 that I doubt the Falcons jumped all the way by themselves.

Crossing fingers for a proper warship class carrier rather than a freighter. Given that Aurora has very little fighters left & Celestias been converted to pretty much a pure gunboat they need the help.

After reading it again it may be the Yamaro they were talking about. I'm thinking the asteroid base is going to take some time to be upgraded.

it would also be good to not only have more 402's but more talons as well, so a full carrier would fill the bill, and the barnard system would provide perfect cover and material for the asteroid shipwards as its a systemwide asteroid field

I'm thinking that there is more too this mystery object. Before Casimir shows Dumar this mystery object Dumar says "We cannot send them only the four oh twos. They will need Technicians to maintain them, spare parts to keep them operational...". I'm thinking they found some old asteroid supply base or some other type of supply cache that would have been a forgotten left over from Casimir's younger days as an interceptor pilot. He had said they would operate far from their base of operations quiet often using the 402's it would be an advantage to have some type of facility for refuel and maintenance scattered about.

I hadn't considered a full fleet but given the title of the next book it may just be a possibility. Rise of the Alliance. The alliance can't rise without a fleet.

The fleet is secondary to getting some political victories. I hardly think the defence of the Earth qualifies, considering the destruction wrought there. A fleet would be nice, but it is a political victory that is needed.

A super-weapon would do it, something that could pierce the shields of battleships and platforms. So would a fleet of something that could do the job. As long as it lets Nathan achieve at least nominal equality with the Jung in some military areas, so that other systems can consider leaning away from the Jung and to the Alliance's side.
