Y'all are making me feel guilty.
Y’all are making me feel guilty.
Tell 'em to take a prozaic, then a nap. All will better when they wake up.
No ticker just yet... BUT------- How about a peek at the cover art for it? There's a new link in the menu now with the artwork for you to preview.
Fixed fortifications are a monument to the stupidity of man. George S Patton
Great cover art! Am I seeing two?!
I know it's my ocd kicking in but, aren't the plasma shots red. Has the weapons systems been upgraded? Maybe a new alliance resource has arrived.
Those arnt plasma shots.... Those are KKV strikes.
Ouch. 2 battle platforms down, that'll hurt.
Go Admiral Dumar.
OMG! Ouch!
Two BPs at once, that is great stuff. I think I see two capital ships in the distance, so there are still plenty of targets available.
I wonder if they are jumping up to 'Head of the Dragon' kind of attacks on the homeworld. First they would need to find the homeworld, though.
You know i have been re-reading them all to hold me over till 13 comes out, and now that i know their is a spy, i am seeing everyone as a spy! It only makes me enjoy them more! Yeah for two KKV's and two downed battle plates!!
I had trouble visualizing the battleplatforms thanks for this artwork Rick its great to see.
A Show of Force. ?
Indeed BOrg, that seems to be the title. Amazon seems to confirm it. http://www.amazon.com/Ep-12-Rise-Alliance-Frontiers-ebook/dp/B00OGOBPI2
It's in the books description.
It matches up pretty well with Dumar's speech at the end of 12, so it makes sense.
Love seeing two battle platforms taken out at once. I seem to remember they were both in the nearest system to earth. It would probably scare the Jung shirtless if no ships made an appearance in the system and they had no idea how it happened.
On another note, the Alliance needs some intel. I hope Jessica gets back to business along with a squad of Ghatazhak and find some high valued targets to abduct and interrogate. Maybe find some brainwashed locals.

The main reasons that I pulled out of Select/KU are the first, Amazon’s implentation is poorly designed and unfair. (I am referring specifically toward the fact that authors are paid the same for short works as they are for long works, which is beyond insane.)
...
I don't think it's unfair (or really poorly designed) as much as there simply aren't any really fair ways of doing it and thus it won't work for every author, so Amazon uses the more straightforward. If someone can come up with a system that would lead to more subscribers and authors using it, I'd imagine Amazon might have a fair bit of money for them (just changing payout formula, nothing else).
If it's weighted by size, then short stories will get barely anything (which may or may not be bad), while the rather big books will probably get significantly more than the ebook sell price. Alternatively, the formula could be based on average size, in which case the further away a books size from the average size is, the less the authors get.
If it's weighted by sell price, then it's just a matter of time before ebook prices go through the roof and readers are practically forced to use KU.
If it's weighted by size:sell-price ratio, might be the worst of all as the formula will pretty much determine whether it favors relatively expensive/cheap/average priced books. Favoring average seems workable until you consider that there can be good reasons for why the ebooks are priced as such.
If it's weighted at all, I'm fairly sure there are still going to be authors who are getting more and authors who are getting less than their listed ebook sell price. Essentially, it's something that seems to inherently favors readers over authors. A good number of authors are going to be unhappy regardless.
Of course, those detrimental effects can be reduced by reducing the effectiveness of the weights, but the more you do that, the closer you get to the current unweighted approach.
Oh and my own approach on KU books is essentially that I use KU the first time I read a book, and if I want to read the book again, I buy it. Although, KU hasn't out long enough for me to need to read a KU book again, yet. If other reader's use this approach, then KU will be beneficial in the long run.
