Mr Brown, I believe the question most likely on everyone's mind is when will Rescue (Part 2 Episode 2) be published? In the past with Part 1, the episodes were generally published 3-4 months apart. Will that be the case with Part 2 or will the length of time between episodes be longer? And will we see an update of the Episodes page on this site to include Part 2 as well as Part 1?
I believe it's been stated that a 6 month schedule would be more the norm as it builds in time for unexpected interruptions and to sync up the audiobook and ebook releases.
Part 2 Episode 2 "Rescue" is due out in August. 3 months is always the goal. Getting the audio to sync and release at the same time is proving more difficult than expected.
So..... we are talking about 15 YEARS to complete this series of books??
2 months between episodes
say 6 months between parts
59 episodes left 2 months between each - 118
say 6 months between parts (additional 4 months x 3 parts) - 12
say 14 months slippage (for 59 episodes you have to allow for slippage(also it allowed me to make it 12 years even)) - 14
Total 144 months or 12 years.
Yip that is a big project!
Hang in there Ryk!
Twelve years isn't that bad actually. The author of the Honor Harrington series, David Weber, has been working on it for 25 years and it has created a fourteen book main series, four three-book subseries, six anthologies, and an assortment of other companion books, technical manuals, etc. Mr Brown should have no trouble with the Frontiers Saga barring unforeseen delays, illness or injury.
Fingers crossed as its a good read!
Maybe I was thinking of 6 months between parts.
new releases every 2 months and an additional 4 months between parts would actually be 6 months between parts, it doesn't make all that much difference really.
The main issue is the Author being able to write... any issues with your wrists these days Ryk? I know they were bad before!
This has been the worst wait between books for me personally that I can remember. I've re read escalation 3 or 4 times now and I love all the subtle clues in the book you only really notice once you know the ending. Is there any update on when in August the next release may be?
Sometime on or after August 1st and before or on August 31st would be my guess 😉
That made me smile R Regit... But I am selfishly hoping for the first week in august, because i have time off and would love to have the book to read! But i am betting that since we have heard nothing yet it will be the middle to end of August...
Because we the fans have consistently freaked out waiting for the next release when they were delayed, Ryk wanted to build a buffer of episodes ready for release so that he could hit his release dates. He built this buffer by taking a short break between Ep15 and Ep16 and by releasing Arrival. This means that Episode 17 is ready for release. It also means that Ep 18 is all but ready for release and that it is likely that Ryk is working on Ep19 while Ep18 is in first/second pass with his editors.
Also it takes time to get the Audible version ready for release and Ryk wanted to sync the two releases. (can't do that if the Actor doesn't have a copy of the book yet.
I do prefer that he is doing this for less drama leading up to releases... but I was a big fan of getting the new release immediately after it was ready.
The Release date for Ep.17 will likely be mid August because that is 2 months after Ep16 was released and because Ryk said that (kinda)
Well Said @four-islands.
Mr. Brown has worked his arse off to keep us happy, and we in turn have kept him motivated to keep writing. BUT we are also a selfish bunch wanting more and more faster and faster. I for one, Love the books, but also remember that Mr. Brown is human and as I believe @randy pointed out, had some problems with his wrists.
The books will be pushed out when they and Mr. Brown are ready. In the mean time, if there are any artists out there...start punching out some concept art. Any writers out there do some fan fiction (there is a section for this somewhere in here)...
@four-islands can tell stories and sings camp fire songs while we make smores and burn the hell out of the hotdogs....
LOL! Campfire songs and burnt hot dogs! No better way to wait for the next book!!
