2 questions: How could the Jung show up right after the Mirai transported into the crystal caverns on Corinair?
Who is the mole who works for the Jung ?
All in all, a pretty good setup for the next épisodes.
How awesome would it have been if Connor Tuplo was instead named Tanner Tuplo and in the next episode he refers to himself as Nat-Tan. After he is able to access Nathan's memories (which are currently in his head but fire-walled off) and also doesn't lose his prior six years and most recent memories of Dumar's last words. --- "I am Nat-Tan." is his response to Lord Dubnyk when Dubnyk requests who he is surrendering to, after his invasion fleet is decimated....
One thing I think happened is that most of his memories' were wiped by the nanos before the scan. This may be part of his problems.
Corinair had an extensive satellite grid and the Jung have reason to use those to watch the movements of People.
The Jung have a lot of experience planting Nanites in people. The Alliance have a way of screening people for Nanites but not everybody has those to hand.
The Jung Military Castes who literally captured the PC only months ago would still have a jump capable force on stand by to react to any sign odd if not outright anti Jung activity - like a truck full of people driving though a forresty area to a massive cave - if that isnt odd then I dont know what is.
Also Dumar's presence on the planet would have come to the Jung's attention, I'm sure someone on the Jung's side asked is there any alliance personnel here? and some Dumbass would tell them (or Nanites / torture would have Brought it up)
Although Dumar's son came across as a Dumbass - that's just because from the point of view of all of us readers he was acting against the alliance. He doesn't know the Jung, and from his point of view he wouldn't be on their radar. So yeah he's a Dumbass - I just mean he wasn't intentionally standing up to be a Jung sympathizer or anything.
You know it could have been something as simple as one of the Truck drivers family sending a text to say good bye to a friend being picked up by the Jung's monitoring software.
Maybe the Jung scientific community figured out a way to detect Jump fields - Really it doesn't matter (yet)
Interesting observation that something in the crystal cave inhibited jumping away. Package that as a weapon to keep your enemy from escaping a battle or following you. The trick will be returning for a sample and containing the interference to allow the collectors to leave.
Actually that might be it, since the crystal caves inhibited the jump out did it do something to the "resonance" on the jump in... in other words did it amplify some signal or noise that caused the Jung to notice... I just figured the Jung developed a jump detector of some sort...
How did the Jung get jump drive ?
Could have been from scans taken of Alliance ships in battle or in secret transported by ftl drone.
Could have been from Dubnck
Could have been from experimentation after seeing the Alliance jump drive in action.
Could have been due to other Jung tech we didn't know about before. (possible a tachyon communication device hidden away in the Ship yard at Tau Ceti using tachyon communication devices to forward the construction plans and signatures of each ship build for cataloging at home base at FTL speeds)
Could be Spys
Could be Nanites
Could be Alien's trying to maintain the status quo of people versus people in our part of the galaxy
As for Conathan, I don't think so. They've saix they were doing to transplant the memories to a new host. I think we'll have a Connor and a Nathan, two separate people. Or maybe a Conathan and Nathan.
I'm concerned with the fact that no one was really pushing the rescue the new clone. And what with the Clone just sitting there waiting to be discovered I wonder if the Jung could have a use for a Nathan Clone of their own!!
I recon that the Jung would have a fairly good idea about which buildings are being left vacant and would systematically over time check each of these to see if they are useful and or suspicious. So its reasonable to say that they would find the clone.
a great book but book 3 is going to be something special proabably the book of the series, if he gets this next book wrong then goodbye frontiers saga as the nathan that will be reborn will be something special that no group will effeictvley will be able to beat him, he will be become the next ghastaerak to handle everthing in hid head no human can fe frain safe ans sound minf, I always knew that them 2 loved each other and he will need everything to and erveryone to help with the guilt the pain and anguish, if they thought he was capable before now we hill carve out an empire and be ruthless and compassionate when need if he returnd
I really liked this book. It took me back to the feeling of the early books when Ryk just tells a story without trying to set up dramatic effects for the sake of adding drama. Stick to it Ryk. This is an interesting story and doesn't need drama for drama's sake. Good Job!
hmmm...ok so Na-tan, according to legend, never dies/can't be killed... Nathan has been cloned.. hmmm... wonder if time travel (another jump accident) is in the future and someone from the future ends up in the past and starts the whole na-tan legend!!
Love the series, all the books... eagerly awaiting restoration!!
