Hello,

I've power read this great series and am curious if part 2 will have Nathan Scott as the main character again or will the story be told from a different perspective? Thanks

Ryk said that Nathan Scott is to Grow into a Great Captain that isn't likely in the next two books (yes we have seen great strides in that respect but he is still in his late 20's). I think he said that Nathan will be a big part of all 5 parts. But that each part will have a central thread that will end in that part.
I recon that the Forming of the Alliance and the creation of the 20 light year exclusion zone is Part 1.
Part 2 could then be more a battle between the Jung and Alliance for control of all Human worlds as the Jung employ Jump tech right back at the Alliance.

Ryk recently mentioned that Part 2 could take place as little as 1 year up to as much as 10 years after the conclusion of Part 1.

Should Ep.16 be a true start to Part 2?
Or should it bridge the gap with maybe 2 or 3 chapters dedicated to a number of events/ storylines in the intervening years?
Or best of both worlds, the first 2-3 chapters bridge the gap and straight into the action in Chapter 3 or 4?

What would people think about a "netcast" style minisode detailing one event/ storyline that would lead nicely into Part 2? - to be followed by a true start into Part 2

What would people think about Ep 16 being a start to part 2 and Ep 20 (for example) being a flash back episode like CV-02 Celestia into the interim years.

@four-islands Unless Mr. Brown intends to produce a set of short stories that chronicle the intervening years, the first chapter of Episode 16 will undoubtedly contain at least a partial summary of the events that have transpired in those years. Another avenue he could pursue would be to explain only what we need to know about those years to understand the unfolding events in the new episode while leaving the events between the two parts deliberately ambiguous so he can introduce new events that supposedly occurred during that time period later.

In the meantime, I'm looking forward to the whole Netcast story before Part II. There are a lot of unanswered questions like how the Bio-Digital Plague jumped quarantine on Earth or how it reached the other colonies outside the solar system or what happened to Hanna Bohl. Did she die along with everyone else? Was she immune like the rest of the survivors and her descendants eventually became the Scotts? I'm as interested in reading that story as I am in reading the next part of the Frontiers Saga.

It would be cool if Ryk wrote four "Episodes" between the main Parts chronicling people who survived the Plague. I would like to know what happened in and around the Core or else where in those days. I would set it out like this.

After Part 1, Netcasts: We see Hanna explaining what it was that happened on Earth.

After Part 2, Captains log: We could see the point of view of the Captain of a patrol boat who usually only has to worry about policing Sol, got word of the plague, protected his ship & crew and began/ continued the quarantine of Earth/ finally deciding to allow the last Colony ships out of Earth, in exchange for a place on board for his crew on some of the ships.

After Part 3, Pilots Journal: We could hear from the point of view of a Colony-ship trying to pull through in a galaxy where settled worlds, not wanting to be exposed to the plague, turn them away, and finally a daring raid for what the colony needed to survive. This story could show us a glimpse at other systems from Core to Developed to Fringe (on a colony ship that may not be in the best of repair)

After Part 4, The Pentaurus Circle: We could see the arrival of the remaining colony ships reaching the PC. The first few trips between planets on those colony ships would be interesting. Seeing first how much would change on a recently colonized world in the time it takes to warp in a loop of all of the PC planets. Disaster - one ship has a propellant leak and in stranded in the deep black between two system knowing that the field of meteorites that your ship ran into could easily have destroyed it/ still could, and could also scuttle any of the other ships that could be coming to your rescue / whenever that could be (would anyone notice they were missing before power ran out for the life pods).

But that's just wishful thinking on my part...

I believe I read somewhere on here where Mr. Brown was playing to release the Netcasts as a single episode somewhere between the conclusion of Part 1 and the release of Part 2 along with novel he had previously written before beginning the Frontiers Saga. So the Netcasts we'll most likely see within the next year.

Yes and I cannot wait!

As to the others I'm suggesting, they could be told the same way, from the point of view of a single individual, not necessarily the same individual in each one, but possible with characters met in the earlier ones. Hanna and her team may have gotten on the Jung Colonyship, and the Captain of the Patrol Boat may have gotten onto the one heading to the Takaran system (didn't expect me to say that did you)

I think it could be fun, and informative as to how the galaxy is the way it is.

I would like to know, when Mr. Brown will release the first episode of de part II. And if in such part as Marlin ask, Nathan will be the main character. Also, if on part II the alliance will have more and better ships. With the quantity of remaining ships, I don't see the survival of all the planets forming the alliance. Also with the quantity of individual planets already in the alliance, I think is time to form some kind of Federation of Planets. Or we will need to contact Captain Kirk and the enterprise to help defeat the Jung.

I will take the Netcasts (or the Netcast follow-up story) as it comes. No special requests. It will be good since it is kind of a new plot line on what we already know.

For Part II I really would like to see at least one good piece of technology derived from the knowledge of the Data Ark. Otherwise why people died defending it if it was not worth the effort?

Love this...great thoughts on this...I think this could also with Ryks permission and oversight become the stuff of fan fiction.

@mike
If I was a better writer (if I was a writer) I would write more fan fiction on this, but while I get great story line ideas (great is maybe a bit of a stretch), I then get bogged down in the details:
1) prospective distances in space between planets and moons in they're perspective orbits. (I want to be right but have no concept of how to do that - yes I know that there are websites that can do this for you - but its not on youtube/interesting enough for my 5 second sound bite- what was i saying?)
2) naming places and people is something I simply cannot do well.
3) how to make a number of characters have different yet interconnected story lines. I always make a bags of this in my fan fic / own creative works that will never be published (had a great idea about a kid who got possessed (partially / has no control over it) and went full on neo martial arts with weapons / non weapons / the broken and pointy bones of previously felled enemies (enemies of the possessor = every one / thing not the possessed) - in a lord of the rings type world. Wrote 7-8 chapter then lost the last 2 in a stupid accidental deleting and gave up on it as a whole).
4) how to make writing a scifi story better then reading scifi story - this is perhaps my biggest hurdle... I like rereading good scifi to the point that I have wasted potential learning to write time.

But Thank you for saying they were great thoughts!!
