Hi Ryk,
Hope you're taking a break after writing episode 7 and are reading comments. It was very good and moved the plot along. I like the way the second segment is going but that's not why I'm posting. In the last chapter from Nathan walks into the cargo bay medical center to OH (Spoiler), the text is repeated. Just thought you'd like to know.

OMG - is it just me or are those little teaser vids not the best? Keep em' coming Ryk!
Ok, the Alliance in the PC needs another ship right? What about the Yamaro? It was captured during the first battle of Corinair and put into one the hollow asteroids. It has never resurfaced or been mentioned since. What about one of the prisoners that were rescued in rogue casts being a high ranking secret coronair military official and having access codes for the Yamaro as it has been in secret development and repair for several years? Just a thought.
The Yamaro was very badly damaged by the Aurora in the battle that cemented the road to the forming of the original Sol-Pentarus Alliance. The ship was towed to and inserted into one of the orbiting hollowed out asteroids over Corinair. The Corinari / Alliance used the Yamaro's Shuttle bays as an initial repair/refit base to convert shuttles and small ships into Jump vessels. Over the period of the Alliance/Takaran War this facility grew as the Yamaro and the Asteroid were re-purposed to their new role as the chief Jump Drive Plant and Installation Station.
With the material requirements for the construction of the Station and the production of large numbers of Jump Drives, it is likely that large portions of the ship were scrapped for parts and material. For instance the station would be able to use the fuel tanks of the Yamaro to fuel the shuttle craft, but the engine units were both damages and unnecessary and likely feed into fabricators to make other useful things.
We also know that the Sensor Array of the Yamaro was retrofitted onto the Aurora following their battle, and as such a number of capable and loyal Corinair Crew members of the Yamaro found their way onto the Aurora also, for the greatest example being Commander Micheal Willard. The larger part of the Command staff of the Yamaro were Takaran and were killed attempting boarding actions on both the Yamaro and the Aurora, so even if the Ship was recoverable there would be a very limited number of officers available with the knowledge or experience to fly her.
If the Yamaro had been recoverable, and the Corinari had secretly been using the Jump Drive Plant and Installation Station as a ruse to refit the Yamaro as a Jump Warship then we can note the following.
The Required Engine repairs and the replacement of the Sensor Array would have been easily possible for Corinair. The One-use engines used to push hollowed Asteroids into Planetary orbit could easily have been adapted into a powerful drive system for the Yamaro.
Those same asteroids had Sensor and Communication arrays that were equally as capable as the Aurora's there was no limitations noted by the Aurora Staff when they were using those arrays to hid in the Karazara Asteroid.
There would likely have been need to strip out Computer components due to command control lock outs, but with access to Takaran and Data Core Technology during the Years of Alliance membership along with Fabricator Technolony and Corinari skill and experience the Command and Control Systems that would be installed on the secret ship would be excellent
The Station would have been build piecemeal out of or attached to the asteroid. The ship would have been docked to it. In the early stages the operations of the station would have been based on the ship, but as repairs were closer to completion Station workers would have been moved to their permanent home in the asteroid while the ship workers would have partitions installed around the more exposed retrofitting sites. The use of multiple Hangers could be seen as a golden opportunity to hid these sections. For example While Bay 1 could be the ships main hanger, Bay 2 could be an access for the repair work to the engine units etc.
The story stated that the 2 hanger bays of the Yamaro had been expanded and actually connected. This would allow the Yamaro to act as an Escort Carrier with a number of Jump fighters and combat shuttles assigned to it.
With Large sections of the Habitation area cleared as unnecessary some of this room was used to increase the size of the Hanger bays. Large portions of the superfluous Fuel storage area could have been converted to house additional weapon systems like broadside cannons or larger forward firing ones, Mine launchers or additional Jump Missile launchers.
That's an incredible amount of detail on this potential plot point!
Did you go back and re-read some details on it to remember all that?
It's an interesting idea but with the latest actions of the Admiral, there may well be more traitors for Nathan's cause.
I have read and re-read the first part of this series. As the number of books increased I switched to re-reading the last book before the next. The Yamaro topic came up before so I remembered to look it up last re-read (probably in 2016)
As for the Sol Sector - spin is important, and by showing Nathan Scott's band of Karuzari attacking Kohara and stealing Alliance ships needed to defend Sol, that could hurt Nathan. What if Gillardi says it's a clone of Nathan - but he is not Nathan - but a puppet of an evil rebel faction?
I have been thinking about it and there are a couple of things that need to happen in the next book.
1) Marcus and others needs to be spoken to by the Intelligence team on Aurora for a larger scale overview of the systems and sectors in the vicinity of the PC.
2) Gillardi needs to send scouts to the PC for intelligence on the Dushan and the Karuzari - a Destroyer, 4 Cobra's and a Freighter outfitted to carry some Reapers for scouting purposes, would be a nice force to scout the region and get intel back.
3) Sanctuary needs to be given a detailed jump implementation plan. The Aurora would have specs from the old Karuzari base
4) The Karuzari fleet needs to do some haulage to pay its way.
5) We need to see people getting trained as pilots again for the spare cobra's and for additional crews for the newly acquired vessels who's crews were removed by Telles & co.
6) We need to at least talk ranks. We should mention that there are two captains on the Aurora and that's not including ground forces?
7) We need to see the Aurora and the fleet jump to Sanctuary and shake up the leadership there.
8) We need to see recruitment of pirates and other nefarious types to fill the skilled ranks of the fleet. Especially for Dushan bating
So we have an update from Jess on Facebook! Episode 9 is officially in the works!
Yup! And even that is enough to get me excited!
07/05/2018 Facebook Update:
I'm excited to announce that episode 9, part 2 of The Frontiers Saga will be titled
_I am Justice_
- No release date yet, but I know it will be in July!
-Jess
I'm looking forward to seeing who says it. could be any number of people really! Nathan is the most obvious choice but it could also be Lord Dushan or Galliardi. Personally I'm looking for Lord Dushan to say it right before he is put down by Jess. I mean, it's been a while since she put down a boss character...
@four Island - I think a better answer to that question on who says "I am Justice" would be Nathans Sister (brain cramping at moment and have Maya and Mara both floating in my head), as she puts 2 in the chest and 2 in the head of Galliardi for arranging the bomb that destroyed her family.
that's more "I am vengeance"... but i like it
@four-islands or would it be better if she just knee-capped him and left him to be taken to the gallows for war crimes and attempted Genocide, treason, murder, assassination etc.....
I recon it would be better to catch him on camera saying he did it, then pulling a gun, shooting him dead, kill the camera and then say it.
