Wow @rykbrown, i read episode 7 like a man in a desert drinks water, and loved it.

I thought i was getting a feel for where you were going with Characters like Dayton, Navarro and Willard, and was very excited to see it all come together, only for you to rip the rug out from under me, i did not not expect things to go that way.
There was alot if buildup going into these events, and the twists at the end were most definitely unexpected, though i like the character development that was happening with nathan, and were the events of the last act will take him now.

bravo, and now i have to wait for the next one 🙁

Update spell check - dIsoppeared to disappeared (3times in book 4000-5050ish)

Book ends with like 3 pages of copy paste

Also first cobra attack on cargo ship, 8 octo-fighters was reported after the fact as 4 fighters

Apart from those errors I didn't spot anything else glaringly wrong.

Absolutely love it! Amazing amazing battle at the end!

There was another error that I noticed. While Michael, Birk, and Cuddy are at the Waddell house. At one point, it's referred to as "old man Willard's" place.

Overall it was an interesting read, though I found Crispin being double-crossed by Gilardi predictable. And I knew from the moment that Hunt mentioned a "special container" to Kaylah that it would either be President Scott himself in stasis or a member of the Scott family.

I suspect we'll see a familiar formula in the next few books with the Dusahn being defeated and Nathan turning his attention to liberating Earth yet again and exposing Gilardi.

The Dusahn lost 2 battleships and multiple smaller ships in addition to their main shipyard in this episode. It would seem to be obvious that they are very out classed and will be lucky to hold one or two systems for an extended period. I wonder if when their end comes in one or two episodes someone heads back to the whats left of the Jung empire in hopes to be hailed as a prodigal son.

We got confirmation of the old man being the jump drive leak as expected.
I can see the Dusahn accepting their losses after one final battle and heading back to the jung homeworld in hopes of trading the jump drive for the Dusahn return to power in the system. I'm curious to see what Miris role will become in the war.
Maybe could do with a side plot of one of Gallardis captains in the fight against the jung to start to see some other side to his plight. Could do with some emotion from some of the crew as at times they are killing their own countrymen... War is hell but their were Takarans on that shipyard.

Yeah, that's true, but that happens in war. It's worse in civil wars, but when there is an occupation and one side uses the other sides people for Labour you have situations like this where every attack is at least partually "friendly fire". It's just one more reason war is so bad. Unfortunately war is often necessary to prevent the subjegation /oppression of your people.
This is however one of those time that people could be seen as freedom fighters or terrorists. Whatever else attacks on civilian targets are dick moves and those that perpetrate them deserve to be buried alive with angry fire ants.

That's what's implied. The Dusahn got the jump drive from 'an old man selling miracles'.

Once again Ryk thanks for a great read and exciting ride.

Significant things for me include;
1. Confirmed that Capt Dubnick was the source of the jump drive acquired by the Dusahn.
2. Destruction of the Corinari underground before it could be effective.
3. Rakuen not joining the Karuzari even after the attack on Nathans life, the Ranni factory & Gunyoki race platform.
4. Adm. Galiardi actually assassinating multiple leaders of the Alliance all at once. Nothing patriotic about that action.
Can you spell coup. Good thing Krispin Bornet survived.
5. The Gunyoki racers become very effective fighters when equipped with jump drives.

Significant losses to the Karuzari;
1.Nearly 100 Ghatazhak killed including MSGT Anwar. That leaves slightly over 100 Ghatazahk remaining and brings into question their continued military effectiveness.
2. President Dayton Scott. His death prevents any help from Earth and gives Galiardi free reign to embroil the SOL sector in another war with the Jung.
3. Michael Willard and the Corinari resistance.
4. Suvan Navarro and the Teyentah.

Dusahn losses;
1. I have 1 Battleship, 1 Cruiser, 2 Frigates and 12 Gunships destroyed in the battle(s).
2. Takaran shipyard destroyed. This is a severe blow to the Dusahn and may lead to a change in their tactics in the PC.

Some other thoughts;
1. Roughly 2000 Corinari were rescued. This will be a great pool of talent to fill out Gunship, Super Eagles and Reapers crews. However, losing the 100 Ghatazahk makes this possibility bitter-sweet.
2. There are many possible story threads left to explore from the ending of this book but one I'm sure we will read about is Nathan taking out Adm Galiardi. If Nathan can kill his brother then he sure the heck can waste Galiardi.

Hey Ryk any chance we can get some updated concept art. The Aurora has had major refit(s) as have the Cobra gunships, we've been introduced to Reapers and Gunyoki fighters but haven't had any art work on them and Ranni shuttles are new.

Another excellent book.

The only error that stood out was "Old man Willard's place"

Now let's get into it...

That fuck up Suvan Navarro screwed the big K out of a battleship. If you could jump at all then you should have jumped up Dushan's butt.

I'm super pissed that Willard and Suvan are gone. And that bitch Birk gets to live? WtF?!?!?!?!?

Please tell me that Miri is going to kick some major Gillard as when she recovers.

And don't get me started on Kayla. What a stupid C U next Tuesday. That dude Krispy will do anything for some tang.

Ok, ok, OK may be a little drunk when writing this post. But for crying out loud. What are we going to do without the Ghatazhack? Corinari are good. But not one shot one kill bad ass mother fuckers.

P.S. I wanna see Jessica naked

Love this book series Ryk. Can't wait until fucking February.

Sincerely
Amsterpaul

Great read overall; particularly how the final battle was fought (probably the coolest part of the book). However, a lot of monumental losses in one read. Pretty sure Ryk is going a certain direction but man... Those losses were huge!

As a ground combat vet, I would like to see someway to bring hardcore Ghatazhak battles as before, but seeing that they are getting written off (in large numbers I might add), its unlikely to see that happening in the future.

All great point. Completely agree on the Ghatazhak losses. I miss those hardcore battles where they crush the enemy with formidable precision. I really hope there's a way to reconstitute their forces.

I think we may be passed the point that 100+ Ghatazhak are really necessary in the storyline. The effectiveness of strike teams of 4 have been pretty devastating and the next phase will mainly be big-ass space battles and KKV strikes. Its hard to cover such large battle numbers anyway so I am not so sure the losses will change much. The loss of Burgess spelled the end of the Ghatazhak anyway. Some small 1-1s with the Zen-Anor will be good though. If this story thread could end with Gallardi's death, we may end up with
"Nathan Scott Universe Alliance Admiral" ready to take on the Jung as they retaliate with all of Earth's fleet behind him.
