@Pete, are you serious? I have read a bunch of sci-fi but not much Asimov. Maybe one orbtwo of his books he just never grabbed me. I guess I need to put that on the list if I ever decide to self publish as not to offend the purists.

Not very constructive.

Gary...
Yes, it is an interesting ending for a never-ending series.

I think I know what's going on with Capt. Dubynk. He is actually the founder of the Jung (he is old enough). His philosophy is a bit dim; however, it does fit the nature of of the Jung culture. He will be taking the jump drive to the Jung.. and will be proven to be the glorious founder of this entirely non-empathetic culture (kinda like the British empire). And, who knows, he might actually influence the masses to forgive the Alliance for kicking Jung butt... NOT

Capt. Scott was injected with nanites .. which will kill him, if they detect that he is about to give away the Jump Technology during interrogation ... actually... it's a tracking bug.. so that he can be rescued when the Alliance decides to glass the Jung home world.

The good news is, as Ryk stated previously, he actually has a plan for the entire "Frontiers Saga"! Also, there are clues in the first series that should introduce the events in Season 2. I did expect the "spy" to be detected in Season 1 ... I's almost too late now for that knowledge to mean much .. now that the Jung are stopped, and threatened by roving KKV's

I don't accept the surrender of Scott. Any culture that undergoes a "Tonba-Hon-Venar" is irrational .. and should be totally destroyed, .. just like a plague. You don't reason with a plague. You can't live with a plague. Such a neurological condition as Tonba-Hon-Venar only exists in Science Fiction, and with some Religions.. 🙂

I cannot accept that billions of Jung, (who are human) are so intellectually defective. That notion is also shared by the Alliance.. otherwise why drop the leaflets? If that's why Scott surrendered, fear of THV, then he didn't think about it much.. it was a dumb move.

I still don't see why the Alliance couldn't find and plot the course of Earth bound FTL Battleships and destroy them with either JKKV's or TOT attacks. I mean it would take years for the first ship to get the message to even attack Earth. and by then the Earth will have early warning Jump Scouts / Shuttles / Falcons / Drones flying all attack lines.

For Battleships / Battle Platforms with folding space FTL, drop a string of Antimatter mines and hit them with KKV strikes, the Alliance has done all of this before, with a year or two of clear skys the Alliance will have the infrastructure in place to spot / Track / Destroy all inbound targets

I would have had Nathan tell the Jung General:
"You have attacked the Earth, but she is free. You have conquered the Core Worlds but they are liberated. We can destroy all your ships and all your worlds; we have proven that. It would not be hard. You cannot destroy ours, we have proven that too. You can call for your Tonba-Hon-Venar, but know this. We currently have eight Planet killer Jump KKV's, set to dead man switch. They are on random courses and if they do not receive a message from the Alliance once every day, then they will reduce your worlds to asteroid fields. Every day we learn more of your worlds, your territories. Every day we are building more Ships and Weapons to ensure that the Jung are no longer a threat to the Alliance. So I will say this but once. Withdraw your forces from the the entire Sol Sector, or we will remove them. Attack us again and we will destroy you. Utterly. We can have peace, but know that you have no friends in the Sol Sector. Not after Kent, Not after Tanna. We are the Alliance, The Jung empire is done"

You know if the General would keep from talking back for five minutes... It would have been a nice speech...

I just got through reading this series over the last few weeks and definitely enjoyed it. I'm not sure why everyone's expecting the Jung to be the primary adversary of Part 2; there's an awful lot of nearby galaxy out there. Would be far more interesting to encounter some new enemy that results in the Alliance having to rely on the Jung for help or vice-versa.

So, there is nothing firm about what the doctor injected Nathan with at the end of the book? Just wanted to verify I had not missed anything on my quick read.

Chances are it was a fresh batch of nanites to prevent the Jung from farming Nathan's brain.

They say there's no way to stop the Jung from eventually over powering them. I call BS.

KKV to crack open their world like an egg. Then your priority is to take out any large ship and any and all construction platforms. They can't replace any ships without a construction platform.

They were able to build a KKV in about 10 days. Allocate The fabricator to make more fabricators and now you're able to make more KKV's per week.

It takes months to build new ships and probably years to build another construction platform. Waiting till 70% complete and then fly in and blow it up again with the KKV.

They could easily exterminate the Jung threat.

Dubnyk. When he first appears I wondered if he might be the author of the virus. They later say Jung are named after Capt Jung. I wonder if Dubnyk could be Jung.

In one of the earlier books we learn a saba is with the earth people would call a dog. In Russian a dog would be called Sabaka. I wonder if the author drew upon other languagesto create his new evolved alien languages. I am really enjoying the series. Now to begin Series 2.

Its not so straight forward.

Firstly you would be murdering a lot of innocent people on the Jung world too.

Secondly who do you trust with the trigger that can launch a World Killer JKKV?

And the Jung have a number of Planets and not all of them have been found. The Jung also have a large number of ships, again not all of them have been found, and not all of them can easily be traced while in Jung tertiary. They have bases in Asteroids which are by design hard to locate.

You need trained operators to run the fabricators, you need resources to feed into the fabricators, you need skilled assemblers and all of those resources are needed for other projects too like rebuilding the Earth, and her allies. Repairing the Alliance warships too.

All of the people of the Galaxy are originally from Earth, so they speak common languages. 1000 years of separation doesn't change the fact that they all have vid's and writings from back in the good old days to draw on to keep their languages somewhat similar to the original languages on Earth.

Read books 2.1 and 2.2 together. Book 1 on its own isnt as good as when paired with book 2 which more then made up for it.

Four Islands.

I had just finished Episode 15. About to begin 2.1. As far as murdering the innocent on the Jung homeworld, It really comes down to them or the Alliance. They seem to have no issue exterminating the other worlds.

As to language, I just thought it interesting the author used a word for dog that sounded similar to the same word in Russian. Wondered if it was intentional. I wonder if some of the other words have similarities to say Arabic, German or some other language's words.

I think the Ghatazhak are my favorite characters.

Yeah, The Jung are not shown in a good light. In saying that, I can think of a few countries that have leaders with lesser Morals and a population that fall in line out of necessity, that have come back from the brink. Germany during and just before WW2 wasnt a very good place to speak out and USA's history with Slaves and their treatment of Natives shows how it can be widely excepted to be a giant jackass. But people change (generally over the course of generations) sometimes for the better, sometimes not. the Jung are a people who went a certain way but could still be redeemed... they could, not saying that that's what will happen... there is history now between the Alliance and the Jung that will take some getting used to!

And Ryk has based Corinari on the Scottish, and wasn't Takaran based on Arabic, Russian, and something else? It makes sense to say these people came from these countries, so they spoke these languages. 1000 years in an age with developed languages, would result in some very consistent languages. I would be very surprised if we could not very readily understand the modern languages of 1000 years from now... with some variation based on popular slang like say LOL becoming obsolete... I can dream...
