It appears that in Ep14 the Alliance is starting to get the upper hand and is a a short span of time away from not only defending against the Jung but actually starting to roll them back and dismantle their Empire.
I wonder were Mr. Brown is going with this story. Is it to be Star Trek in that the alliance is "in control" going forward with setbacks along the way? Is it to be like Firefly, with the good guys actually loosing or in a stalemate scrounging to survive?
One thought I have is the Jung are at the point they may decide it will be impossible to make the Earth their own. Will they crack it open with a KKV like a big Walnut? (ala Kent) What would happen to the alliance? They seemed to use earth as a focus and without it what will happen?
The Jung do not have jump drives in Book 14. The purpose of the 20 ly zone is so that the Alliance has plenty of time to find the Jung before they can do a KKV.
The Jung have comm drones that we have seen to travel at 20c (times light). Alliance intelligence from Spec Ops agents in the field have reported speeds of 100c for other Jung Drones. It seems reasonable to me that the Jung would continue to manufacture the new faster comm drones until they could phase out the 20c model. (I know the Alliance has Jump drones but wait until the Jung find out that the Takaran Empire had 1000c drones.) That means that the Jung have access to large amounts of Drones that they could convert to KKV's
The Jung 100c model comm drone, that the Jung battle platforms all have, could be converted into KKV's, which it is especially likely for them to try since they have seen the Alliance use the KKV tactic to great effect. A 100c KKV would mean that from 20 light years away for example a KKV would only take 73 days to hit the earth (37 days from 10 Light years away where their is a battle group currently heading for Earth) and I don't care how good of a Jump ship/drone perimeter you have around a star system, there is no way that a kkv traveling 100c for only 73 days over a distance or 20 light years is going to be spotted unless the alliance already knew when/where it was fired from.
The two reason's we haven't seen the jung use KKV's in my opinion are:
1) The Jung might feel that the KKV is not worth trying because of the difficulty in predicting where the target would be over large distances (light minutes), especially since it is a suprise tactic and for the Jung to see the target, the target would be in the position to see the attacker and Jump away.
2) The Jung being a grouping of different Caste's and Clan's, may have resulted in the leadership imposing security features on they're comm drones to prevent them from being turned into weapons that could be used against them (the Jung Leadership)
We have seen Jung Gunboats try to ram at low warp in Ep12 so we know that the Jung have thought up the tactic, but haven't been able to convert they're comm drones or just not in that small a time frame.

There are truly many, many, many ... options for painting a dark/black ending.
I wonder if Abby and here family are going to be sold out by the old captain to the Jung for the promise of some youth serum.
While keeping the well-being of her family under threat they will force her to recreate the Jump Drive for them. On the other side, Abby might just be to strong and rather sacrifice herself before that happens.
Though as it is more likely I would rather bet a quid on a bitter-sweet triumph at extraordinary high costs. Potentially even the death of Nathan and the destruction of the Aurora is in it, for the survival of Earth.
and I don’t care how good of a Jump ship/drone perimeter you have around a star system, there is no way that a kkv traveling 100c for only 73 days over a distance or 20 light years is going to be spotted
Agreed.
That is how the Asteroid Base in Ep 15 could potentially get destroyed out of the blue.
They could also blackmail them into either giving them a Jump Drive or they would be sending one KKV After another into Earth, till it is uninhabitable.
---
Combine the first with the second and Nathan might even have to fly the Aurora into the belly of the Battle-platform, acting as he would comply and than blow it up from the inside.

That's if you want to start with a clean slate for Part 2.
Just as a point of fact, my science guy and I sat down and figured out how many FTL motion detectors you would need, and how they would have to be placed, in order to allow for a successful intercept. (Using jump comm-drones to notify the target of a need for intercept action.) While the number was not staggering, it was beyond the scope of part 1 without the help of a genie and a lamp.
For Clarity's sake is that on the direct line between the nearest stars or for a complete 360 around and over/under?
