Nice!
I agree with you, @goose was very inspired with this. 😀
Maybe something in the EU style, a star representing each member planet in a circle surrounding... i don't know, a Phoenix to representing a new dawn of humanity rising from the ashes of the B-D Plague?
also: re the books I may "want" 13 to come out like... yesterday, but I "need" the series to be what the author intended; without driving Ryk to an early grave. So, Ryk - do what you've got to do and take what ever time you need. in the mean time, I'll go explore other Authors. Lord knows I'll binge read 13 and then start whining about 14 to myself anyway.
Oh, and my cats thank you in advance for making me sit still for several hours and providing them with a warm lap. 😛
For the patch I'd like to see something that has a nod to the jump tech, which allowed the formation of the alliance in the first place. Perhaps an outer circle, with an inner circle or ellipse just touching the border of the other to signify how the jump drive works by overlaying shields without actually divulging that info. Then inside the circle three points of light or lens flares. Each corresponding to the three systems in the alliance. Then have something like birds carrying items between each point. An olive branch, an arrow, and something else to signify the efforts of the Tanna people providing succor to the people of earth. Something else should probably be added for the Ghatazhak.
As for 13 coming out... I'm still checking the page once every few hours, but @siamesekiwi hit the nail on the head. I will binge it, and as soon as it's done, I will wonder... "How soon is too soon to make a post asking for an ETA on 14?"
The badge could be a BP being KKV'ed... you know just to show that the one purpose of the Alliance is to kick the living sh*t out of the Jung.

Ryk has agreed on not posting ETAs anymore... just some idea when the next book will come out. In this way there is not the same stress for him and not a way for us to become anxious and start asking for a release. Go to Ryk's Log (Entry 6)...

I'm aware and completely agree, I was just kidding about asking for an ETA.
Hi All,
You guys looks like a bunch of children. Keep saying that you don't want to bug or put pressure on Mr. Brown but you can't stop talking about it. STOP BUGGING HIM. He already said that he had rewritten 3 chapters because it was the best for the series and the copy was with the reviser.
I want to read the next book as much as you all and unfortunately I use to refresh the site's page many times per day just to be sure that I didn't miss the publication date.
I'm sure Mr. Brown knows that we are all waiting. reread his last post and think that you're doing exactly what he thanked us all for not doing anymore.
Think about it.
So... Anyone watch a good TV show lately? 🙂
I agree with Hans, but on the other hand... We're on a site dedicated to these books. It is kind of a self-fulfilling prophesy. We're going to talk about the books how we're craving the next installment. Otherwise we'd be on a fantasy football site or a drone enthusiast site.
Ryk came up with a nice way to reset the AI component of what appears to be our definite future. Considering the rate of advancement of AI over the last decade or two, it seems clear we'll have a very automated future. That future that we seem destined to head towards will make sagas like this impossible. We'll have swarms of intelligent bots in amazing communication networks providing perfect knowledge of every opponent's move as soon as they make it. There will be virtually no "fog of war" and no element of surprise.
I fear that future, because the tyranny of the majority will become absolute. If we encounter an alien species, then whichever one happens to be larger will, simply, absorb the other one. It will make the Borg look like a child's toy.
Fear the future! (tm) (r) (c)
Hi @ericnay,
You're right when you say we're in a site dedicated to these books. My point is that Mr. Brown gave us a follow up and despite that some people keep bugging him, that's what me rant is about. Talk about the published books or the possibilities on the next one is ok but ask about when it will be published.... Well I have already expressed my opinion.
I agree with you, the future with the AI component is frightening. Terry Mixon started a series (Empire of Bones) that exploits exactly this.

Eric, I partially agree with you. Just because we know that this is possible, we can always develop stealth components. The F117 are an example of that.
Yeah, I fear the future too, not because of the possible ETs but because humanity is too stupid and selfish. Nuttall in one of his free books he says that since 9.11 we are living the "Age of Unrest" and I should say that I agree with him.
AIs and the rest won't happen before this "Age of Unrest" is finished, and unfortunately I'll be dust when that happens.
Stealth is only partially helpful. The Chinese claim they can see through just about every single stealth system we have. This is in part because they can receive the reflections of those radar bounces at other facilities. That is, the F117, for example, bounces radar away from the sender. However, a station where the radar bounces to can receive it just fine. You can also purposely send your radar to another station. An aircraft that bounces the radar elsewhere will stand out like a neon sign as it shows up as a hole in the signal. So don't fly that way, you say. Enough stations and that gets hard. The US is getting ready to design a future jet that doesn't worry about stealth so much. Instead, it will just over power the enemy with superior combat ability.
Radar stations are usually the first thing targeted during the start of any war. You can either destroy them with missiles from a long distance away, try to fight your way to them, or my favorite, just overpower their systems ability to track targets with decoys. Having 50 radar sites, doesn't do you much good, when you can't correlate the data to separate out the valid targets from the decoys.
Sure, but what happens when your opponent made the chips, computers, and much of the infrastructure that your systems rely upon? That is now a problem for all sides in most larger power engagements. The NSA has bugged the equipment that the Chinese are building for us, and the Russians have bugged that as well... Only the Euros are left out of the dance. Very messy.
You get Desert Storm. Nice predictable lines of fire from the AA guns that you can easily avoid.
Hi all just done 1-12 Audiobooks i see episode 13 is "comeing soon" wold the audiobook be out at that time? more likely 1-2 months later.

@leenewsum, the audio books for the current series are typically on a delay. That being said, Ryk has indicated that one of the benefits of him getting 3-4 episodes of part two complete before episode 1 is released is that the ebook and audio book will be released at the same time.
