Episode 13 speculation. Ready? Go!
need a couple more reads of 12 first
Pres Scott suspected of being a spy and Nathan begins to feed him bad intel and then we wait.
Capt Nash suspected of being spy, (LT Nash flips out but goes with it when she hears about Pres Scott)
Explorer class Shields & Extra weapons - more Lasers top and bottom, also what happened to rotating Plasma turrets? bring them back!!!
Front of Celestia rebuilt with additional 2x Plasma Cannons & 4x Torpedoes
Karazara Jumps to Tanna to help construct / upgrade Tannan Gunships & Fighters
Taking the Fight to Jung in the Core Worlds.
Attack on Tanna as everyone at Earth / core, Falcons and new Tannan gunboats secure Tanna but Terran camps raided as Jung somehow know about Abby!!! Spies everywhere!!!
Josh named Fighter pilot of the year... took out more Jung in Tanna attack then any two other Falcons or any six Tannan fighters
Casmir gets on the news and highlights how the nobles are being unhelpful as all hell. Gets arrested by Nobles. Roits free Casmir. Attacks in PC found to be organised but who is this threat?
Takara attacked & partial Data Ark Copy Stolen. Vote Casmir for President of New Takara Government.
Admiral Doram meets with Admiral Gallini to discuss Strategy. (BV-01 & 02, 3 x other scout ships(if 2 were late in 8, I'm guessing they won't be back...))
Casmir announces to the nobles that since they have declined any official help for earth since any help provided so far has been privately financed by Casmir the alliance terms has been breached therefore the data ark will not be handed over to the takar government , Casmir as a private citizen however already has access to it and the contents makes him a very rich man , of course the nobles quickly scramble to get a slice of the pie by sending as much help as they can
1) Nobles try to assassinate Casmir, He finds out who sent the assassin and has that noble(or Nobles) arrested, Tried for treason, lines them up against a wall and shot.
2) Weapons Hmmmmm the Data ark should have more advanced weapons in it. They get installed in the Aurora and Celestia. More ships like the Aurora are build BUT with shields... will be able to jump with shields up.
3) Zped's are installed on all Alliance ships doing away with the need for matter/antimatter reactors.
4) They find Cold fusion reactor spec's in the data ark. That helps get the Earth's infrastructure running again.
5) The Digital Plague returns. infects the Jung. YEAAAAA!!
6) The Spy is found out maybe?? I think it is Tibbie. Ryk might wait until book 15 to reveal this just to keep the suspense up.
7) Cleaning out the 20 lightyear corridor around earth is harder than anyone thinks it is.
8) The Jung counter attack earth.
9) Abby and Family are taken from Tanna by the Jung and Abby is forced to work for them, Under the threat of her family being killed if she does not.
10) That Captain that they found frozen in an earlier episode (sorry can't remember his name.) He comes out as the one who works with the Jung to get ABBY because he is the original Jung leader (Christopher Jung).
11) Tanna and the PC get attacked by the Jung. Forces the Nobles still alive to help Takara And the alliance to work towards defeating the Jung.
More to come when I think about this.
Great read in book 12 Ryk I left a review in Amazon. Oh and thanks for using some of all of our Ideas.
Nobles I think could be a bigger danger then just not sending aid to earth.
While I notice a lot of people speculating about Abby being taken by the Jung (which could happen) I wonder more about the Nobles. If these guy believe more wealth and power could be obtained by cutting a deal with the Jung for ZEPD, jump drives, and data ark tech. Just think about the chaos that would ensue!
Lets just hope that the propellant trade will open the doors for more profitable trades that will get the attention of the Nobles.
Just a thought...
A couple of thoughts.
How big is the main bay or more importantly the tunnel on Karuzara base?
The reason I ask, after destroying two 20 kilometer wide battle platforms, there has to be millions of tons of refined metal floating about.
The Karuzara has enough power to jump a 60 kilometer object, so it has enough power to power a huge arc furnace, melt down all that refined melt, and recast into hull piece for a new class of Alliance war ship, one designed around jump-drive, really big ZPEDs, and really big plasma cannons.
A thought on weapons, what about a folded-space FTL torpedo with an anti matter warhead. What happens when two folded-space fields interact? Do they short out like shields? If so it does not matter if the target does a micro FTL jump, as long as your weapon's trajectory intersects.......BOOM.
I think the spy will be the Lt. Commander (now commander) that they picked up on the Celestia. He always struck me as weaselly.
Looking forward to seeing what Ryk has in store with the oldest living guy. I think he will play some role as a traitor but I just don't see how yet.
Loved that Ryk incorporated all the things we were discussing here - scout ships, KKVs, Karuzari.
I keep thinking that if you took one of those arms of the battle platform, put the antimatter cores back in, and strapped on some engines, you'd already have a massive ship about the size of 20 battleships. The retrofit would be a lot faster than melting it down and starting over. I think from what I read you'd get 2 or 3 of these massive mini platforms.
Of course they have to liberate at least one core world in the next volume, or they will run out of time to win the war. After all, they only have three more books, something like 400,000-500,000 words.
I think the spy is Toosh, he spends to much time in the head. A perfect place to type reports to the Jung and one of the only private places on the boat.
I really think Tug has it all worked out as far as his future.
He has his guy pretty much running the alliance now. He has the Data ark to feed and manipulate the Nobles. Also he has in with future trade revenue within the Alliance. I think his initial investment to get the Alliance moving in the right direction could pay off handsomely for his family in the long run. As he has all the cards and influence, in a few years he could have more influence and power than Cias ever had and have obtained it honorably.
Tug should announce: "And my family has opened up tourism packages, available to all Takarans, using my personal ships. See Terra, the home of us all! Just $10m or equivalent per person. Includes 48 hours on Earth."
That would restore his coffers quickly, and make Earth some real money in the process.
Have been reading these forums for a long time as I wait for the new episodes, but this is my first time posting. Woohoo. As I was reading about the "more advanced technologies" in the Data Ark, I got my hopes up for more advanced weapons. So I was thinking in this coming episodes the concepts of "Antimatter projectors or guns" or "Micro-singularity projectors" gets introduced to the Alliance. This immediately gives the Alliance a distinct advantage in combat that is fully exploited against the two battle platforms in the Tau-Ceti system(at least I think that is where they are). It is a massive victory for the Alliance, but the comm drones that are sent off just before their destruction leads the Jung to mass their forces in a single system (one of the next core worlds) and the Episode 13 ends with the Alliance up to their neck in 4 battle platforms and numerous battleships and supporting vessels. Well that's how it is playing out in my head at least.
On a different tangent.
As more planets join the Alliance at some point there is going to have to be an Alliance HQ.
Given the now regular runs between Sol and the PC.
May I suggest the place where the Alliance was born, Corinair.
They're still rebuilding, so rebuild with a big diplomatic neighborhood.
- What Jung systems are around Tanna. Scouts find out
- Convert some of earths asteroids to jump ships!
- Attack those platforms from system Kupier belt.
- Casmir starts to make that money back due to trade with Earth. Of course, he just uses it to help some more.
- Alliance gains some Tanna pilots.
- Some kids from the PC arrive thinking they can help. Kinda like some Americans fought in China before WWII
- Commodore Scott has a nice ring to it.
- Terrans from all parts of the world join alliance navy.
- They find a way to move that Big Rock, with a Jung space warp drive
Do Jung battle ships only use non space warp FTL drives? Only the battle station has those?
Big fan of the books and thought episode 12 was a brilliant read, well worth the wait.
I think the capt. of the Jung battleship / platform (from the original encounter in episode 11) could possibly escape again and warn the battle group in the neighbouring system.
Alternatively the next episode could be set a couple of years down the line and the Alliance has amassed a fleet of ships from the PC and Earth. I know that this option ruins the fun of finding out about the spy and what happens to Tug...
