All right, I've read 10 and it was great but I'm wondering what's going to happen now. If members of the intrepid command staff survived, would there be a line officer survivor senior to Nathan and would Admiral Galiardi, if he survived interrogation, relieve Nathan and put someone else in command? Any thoughts folks?

While that makes a slight amount of logical sense, we'd all be hugely let down if Nathan were removed from his command. There may be a subplot with hints that it might happen, but it won't come to pass. It honestly just doesn't make literary sense.

I do wonder who will be Nathan's new XO, though. Having someone from the Intrepid take over that role makes sense. Plus we have to replace Wadell and a few others.

My predictions are pretty simple: next book we're going to see the Celestia start to enter the fight, and we'll get an idea of who Tug's going to send to help Nathan. I also think we'll start to get an idea of what the Jung are going to do to retaliate. Nathan pretty much has committed to destroying the Jung, now, so I suspect they will be the focus of the next four books.

Quite frankly, I believe Nathan's father is politically shrewd enough to realize that the alliance to the worlds in the "PC" depends on Nathan and they would have a possible mutiny of the Corinairians on the Aurora crew if Nathan were to be removed. Plus it would be "political & global suicide" the upset the "Alliance".

Right now, political leaders of a liberated Earth, have more pressing problems with the upheaval currently listed by Lt. Telles.

I believe that Cam will remain on Celestia as it commander when surviving crew members from Intrepid become available and are accessed as possible crew. After assessment complete, they may find an Intrepid crew member of higher "time in service" in the rank of "Commander" and she will stay on Celestia as XO to provide experience in the new "Aurora" class of ship operations to include "order of battle". As for a possible XO for Nathan, he will most likely choose a member of the Intrepid crew with the experience necessary.

I also believe that Admiral Galiardi will be promoted to head that new EDF after medical recovery and will promote Nathan to Commodore (or equivalent rank) of the 2 ship Aurora class fleet.

I also think that Prince Casimir aka Tug will send some supplies with at most one warship to escort an aid package, including more Ghatazak Troops, of several combat hardened cargo ships equipped with "jump drives".

I believe Yanni Hiller is going to start a "technological & historical renaissance" in the "PC" with the information in the Data Cores from Earth. He will have a little trouble with the fame he will get from the citizens in the "PC" due to his rather passive personality that will only endear him more to the citizens of the "PC".

With the escape of the Jung general toward Alpha Centauri, it may be a problem later. I think he will contact the current Jung reinforcements on the way there already. This will use a bit of caution and they will try to come into the Sol system in a more covert fashion to make a sneak attack campaign against Earth.

The fact that Yanni is meeting face to face with Prince Casimir proves that ZPED and Jump drives can work together. What does the battleship Avendahl have for main power? A really big ZPED. It would be nice if General Bacca's private ship were to bump into the Avendahl about 3/4's of the way back to Alpha Centauri. Oops :-).
I think that Yanni and Prince Casimir's daughter Deliza will team up.

CRAP!!! I completely forgot about Deliza! That would be great that Yanni would find and discuss the history and Deliza would find out about new technology... OH BOY!!!! the imagination is kicking into overdrive!!!

It seems like the best solution here would be to use the Jump Drive to catch up to it, knock it out of FTL and destroy it. It'll take several months for it to get there at 10x light. Although that probably would be too neat of a resolution for the storyline, so something will probably prevent it from happening.

That's certainly some interesting possibilities. Although the more interesting possibility is to ensure that the battleship retains it's ZED-powered shield.

It would be interesting for Deliza to join the mix. On that note, I don't seem to recall if it ever went into how well she took realizing who her father was.

The battleship meeting with General Bacca does seem rather poetic. Although perhaps more so if the good General simply arrives at Alpha Centauri to find that it's been gutted by aforementioned battleship, which is still there and now sets it's site on the General's ship. Alpha Centauri is a jump away from Sol, so it wouldn't be unlikely that the battleship would be tasked with this job after it reached Sol.

It would also be interesting if they finally get around to testing how to overclock the Jump drive in a similar, abet far less intense, manner as what caused the 1000+ light year jump. However, that seems low priority story-wise until after the Jung have been dealt with.

Well, three more months till we find out...

I was thinking more along the lines of Deliza and Yanni find / perfect some "super shield" from the Data Ark that does play well with ZPED. Maybe one that has the same effect on Jung reactors that the Avandahl's ZPED had on Aurora's jump drive. Get close, crank up the shields, and the Jung ship is powerless.

If there are surviving admirals etc, I think they would likely confirm Nathan as captain. He is, after all the only Earth force captain with experience commanding a jump drive ship, and successfully defeating most of the Jung space forces near Earth.

First Off, Hello to everyone. I have just begun to read this series a month ago and I have to say I like it! I have completed all 11 books of this 15 book saga and I have some thoughts to the next books.

1. I believe the falcon or the super Jump shuttle will spend some time in alpha centauri watch for when enforcements set out for earth.
2. Both the Aurora and the Celestia will need to Fix their jump drives and head to the Takara for repairs and outfitting of weapons and shields.
3. There were four ships left back in the P.C. cluster at least two should be repaired by now one at Corinari and one at Takara Both should be repaired by now and possibly with jump drives.
4. Corinari will send their ship along with any supply ships they have created to the core to help Nathan. Takara as part of the Alliance will sent the Avendal possibly full of Stasis Troopers.(can't remember what they were called)
5. I think the KKV missiles will come into play at Alpha Centauri with the battle platform since it is bigger then their battle ships. or the Stasis troopers (still can't remember) will do like they did at Tanna and cold coast to the platform and take it over, well the reinforcements from the PC cluster will, think about two hundred of those bad boys going after the people on the battle platform.
6. President Scott will name his son captain of the Aurora since he is the only one with the knowledge on how to fight with her jump Drive. Cameron will be named captain of the Celestia for the same argument. Admiral Galiardi since his capture and possible brain washing, remember Tony was caught and look what he did and I don't think that with his brain washing he in control of his actions, I think the president will make him step down. They did capture the make command center so a record of those brain washed or turned should be in there.(possibly)Also the Stasis troopers will only follow Nathan and those he puts in command of them.
7. When and if the ships from the PC cluster show up they will either show just prior to the battle with the Jung or during. I think Tug will have left orders for the ships to follow Nathan orders as admiral of the fleet for the Alliance.
8. The two ships that disappeared the Defender and the Valiant are not out of it yet. Or at least we will find out about them.
9. With the Data Ark safe in the PC cluster Yanni and possibly Deliza will be able to down load the Data into a more rebus system with a search function. there they will find outlines and plans for a new class of ships, Since we know our military would never just let our technology just disappear it is probably hidden on the data ark and Deliza will find it.
10. In all of the books so far it tells little of what happened with the military of earth did during the plague if we had Cargo ships I bet we had war ships also. I believe the Jung are formerly Earth defense force that escaped the plague and the Data ark will relieve that in probably book 13 or 14. They were sent out Just before the plague hit due to a threat out side the system. Since a thousand years have gone by and generation after generation have forgot that and they start there bid for total domination.
Well those are my thoughts I hope you enjoy them as much as I did thinking about them. makes for a very interesting story line.

Mr. Brown,
I thank you now for these books(I hope he reads this) I was going thru a tough time and your books helped me through it all. If you like my ideas please feel free to use them. If you do throw me a line in the books.

Using the Super Jump Shuttle in conjunction with the Falcon would be a great idea. Being a cargo shuttle it could be fit out with various intelligence gathering equipment and with the Falcon flying cover with weapons to protect it.

As for the Jung being descendants of a military strike force sent out a thousand years ago... Could be possible... And a great story arc... But in one of the books the awakened captain of the ill fated colony sent out said that most colonies before the plague were supported by the various governments of earth. I have mentioned before that the way that the Jung operate is a lot like the communist Chinese do, so I still think that they are descendants of a ChiCom, and various other like minded people, colony... just my thoughts.

Finding a new class of warship in the Data Ark would be a great thing but it would take a while to build it. Takara and Corinair would most likely retro-fit current ships with technology of those warship plans. That could possibly come to play in the next series after this one is complete.

I'm thinking that Mr. Brown is going to leave the "all out battle against the Jung" for possibly the last book in this series as a precursor to the next series of books.

The two ships that disappeared the Defender and the Valiant, are going to make an appearance soon I think. If I were a betting man, they are parked somewhere involved with a top secret project dealing with some type of advance weaponry and are working out the power requirements for them (possible story arc for using ZPED's). As for where they are... My guess is the Lagrange Point between Pluto and its moon Charon... close enough out to communicate with the EDF and far enough out to hide what they are doing...

What do the rest of you folks think??? SPECULATE AWAY MY FRIENDS!!!!

That is possible. I think it is possible that the Jung are of Chinese descent, On the other hand if all of the world joined together the military would still exist if they incorporated all of the military's together a huge portion of our military would of course come from the Chinese. And remember that our military today only tells about stuff that is about to happen or has already happened. We move troops around the world on a daily basis and they tell us nothing about it. there are still 4 books to go in this series I think the attack on the Jung home world will be the last book in this saga. Remember that the captain of the cargo ship from book 8 was a civilian and a smuggler possibly. So my question would be What happened to the original EDF? They didn't just give up and die. If they find one ship what about others could the EDF of the past have sent out? their ships with plague free crews could have gone the other direction or any direction it is a little mind boggling with the 3d aspect of space travel. With the PC cluster in one direction what is in the other five main directions from earth. Could the data Ark reveal this later? Or this the set up for the rest of the sagas to come?

If I'm gonna make Episode 11 predictions, I'd say:
- Nathan officially installed as a "commodore" or "fleet admiral" in command of all EDF/Alliance ships in combat
- Galliardi recovers and retains command authority over all forces in Sol (his command beyond that will be the result of some political wrangling with Tug and the Corinai)
- Yanni resists handing over the data cores too much to the Takaran scientists who try to cut him out of the loop, but Tug and Deliza keep him involved
- No major fighting this episode, except for some smaller stuff in outlying Jung territories - maybe Alpha Centauri - to harrass the Jung
- Cam remains in command of the Celestia as she gets it ready to go
- The old crew from the Intrepid is dispersed between the Celestia, the Aurora (one takes over as XO of the Aurora), and the captured Jung battleship (I expect that getting this ready for combat will be a big priority, especially if they can set it with a jump drive and use it as a Trojan Horse to attack Alpha Centauri before Bacca gets back to warn them)
- Tug sends some help from the PC, hopefully a refurbished Avendahl and a few more companies of Ghatazak

10 was Awesome. First of all. The Idea of Boarding the Battle ship and winning it over by de pressuring all compartments was my favourite moment. Amazing twist. Also made the rescue of Nash even better.

To what you guys "Eric G, Nuclearman, StevenK" already mentioned:

1.) Deliza & Yanni would make indeed a nice plot line

2.) The Escaped General could probably be easy knocked out by the Falcon ... but one course correction and they are not to be found. They unlikely would be so stupid to go in linear fashion to Alpha Centauri. Therefore I guess they
A) escaped for good, in order to deliver the message and then get executed.
or
B) General Bacca only sends a comm drone to Alpha C and works from small pre Invasion Asteroid Base with the Jung saboteurs remaining on Earth.

3.) Also saw already all the Battle Platforms cracked in Half by the KKVs. One by one. A non moving platform should have no defence what so ever against a massive comm drone at 1000 x light speed. So they could just pop them. Jump. Pop. Jump. Pop. ...
Also though of boarding but a self destruction button at the hand the of a General would prevent a taking over. So, ... good luck with writing yourself around that dilemma 🙂

4.) Point 10 from StevenK - The Ancient alien threat from outside would probably be a nice opening for Season 3, but I think there is enough to do with:
A) properly getting the systems back into control (against a interstellar Jung Guerilla operation) and
B) Building a trade bridge to the PC (+ getting the content of the Data Arks back)
C) research and advancement
before an Alien threat is needed to drive the story.

5.) I don't believe that Tug will be able to send the Avendal, he will need it in the PC. Also with the power back in the hand of the people it is not solely his decision any more. The Takarans need it to feel safe.
I guess the best he can send in short term is more Troops, material printers and advance Asteroid Harvesters and Technicians in 2 Jumpers.
(Two ? Yop 2. The one in which they came and one which is a bit more bulky and was recently built by the Corinari)
---

Added from my side:

I think in 11 they will be preparing for the next Invasion:
Hence it is hard to keep track of what is going on in the SOL system & Information is half the battle, the first thing they might do is take the Falcon and bug the entire system for good. So that, where ever they jump within sol they get a quicker (pre light) update of what happened in the current area of space lately. 4 Comm drones orbiting at high speed around the sun could frequently update each passive scanning point with info from all other scanning nodes.
-
They probably should also make an Asteroid Base in the long run.
-
+ They have to check-up on the mysterious Captain and prevent the Jung taking back the previously freed system.

Guess I got a bit carried away there. 🙂

Truly forgot about all the political troubles that could arise out of this situation and the potential stupid decisions that might come from a military overhead. Still ... they hardly can take the captain chair from him.
