Location 6415 on the kindle edition they mention things would be easier if Montgomery wasn't dead ??

I guess he was on the BS with Garret when it went down? Pity, I liked him.

It makes sense to kill off some characters along the way, or it wouldn't be at all believable. Still, kind of a bummer.

I have, at this point, no idea how Na-Tan can win this war. Despite having the loyalty of Tannan and other liberated peoples, he just doesn't have the industrial base to produce a fleet big enough to make a difference. I expect Ryk has it all mapped out and that I'll love it as it is revealed, but I just don't see it at this point.

I felt the lack of a reaction from the Tannans over the loss of Garrett and their technicians was missing. That would have been very important to the people of Tanna. Seemed a little rushed, like maybe Ryk was trying to get the book out, IMHO.

The revelation of Captain Jung made me smile. I felt it was a direct response to us here on the forums.

Definitely need more Ghatazhak.

Still seems like Nathan is grooming Loki & Josh for something. Now they don't have a ship to fly, what will happen there? Command over the Falcon wing? Back to being Aurora pilots? Don't think so... Hmmm.

Things I wonder about based on Episode 11:

1 What is on the cover of the book? Is it a Defender Class ship? What connection to the Episode itself?
the jar kuereg

2 What happened to the KKVs (Takaran ftl message drones reprogrammed as a ftl kenetic weapon)? Seems like what should have been a perfect weapon to use against that maneuverable battle platform.
they took them apart
3 What all is on the way from Tug?
20 falcons at first
4 Can Earth remain habitable?
yes but severely damaged
5 Will the Alliance take the offensive against the Jung?
centauri first is my guess
6 Is Dubyk’s real last name Jung? I don’t like Dubyk.
??
7 Were there really only the 4 Ghatazhak suvivors of the captured battle ship? No Takarans? No Tannans? Seems extreme.
ghatazhak were suited when it went down
8 Will any Jung surrender or talk? Seems like the Tannans were an unhappy Jung client-state… Were there no similar crew in the Jung fleet … people who might provide intelligence?
??
9 How are the Jung shields able to hold up to the new plasma weapons with so little trouble? Do the Jung also have ZPID technology too?
only the battleship shields held up
10. Do the Jung have an FTL communication device? Seems like the attack fleet knew EDF tactics.. How was that possible?

eli was a traitor and they knew edf tactics

the tannans don't know of the battle outcome as yet
the earth refugees were placed before the battle
the barnard system of asteroids would be perfect for karuzara base

Loved the book. It was a little slow in places but that is to be expected I think since this episode tied up some lose ends. Extremely good writing with the different story line directions including the family meetings. As always Ryk's combat writing is superb and "edge of the seat" good. Love the Ghatazhak characters and they're duty to do what ever is needed to win. This is absolutely the only way to finish wars like this and should be used in more places than books...

I have one complaint and it certainly won't stop me from reading the rest of Ryk's books.

Consistency!

Please Ryk, be more consistent. For instance the KKV's. I realize you think they would end a scene too fast but sometimes that's the way it needs to be. Why waste time writing pages of story when you're being so inconsistent with your entire story line. The KKV's would have been perfect for taking care of the battle platform. No way it could have moved fast enough to get out of their way. You don't need a jump drive on one just send it off at 100x light and let it ram the ship. Even if the shield could withstand the impact the shield generators would be force out the opposite side of the ship from energy of the kkv (or in Ryk's mechanical case, all the emitters would be ripped off the hull). One battle platform out of the way. This would also change the tactics employed by the Jung as they wouldn't understand what happened. This is one example and I think I could name at least 1 more so please be more consistent. I do have to say I love the way you handled not attacking the Jung home planet by making it an unknown location.

On to a different subject. Dubnyk being Captain Jung would be an awesome story line. Even if it was one where he regretted what the Jung became so went off to start a new colony. Maybe?

the yamaro was made into a asteroid base. dubnyk ive got a sneaky suspicion is really crispin jung

Maybe not Crispin Jung, but possibly a descendent? Either way, there's a reason he won't give Nathan his real name.

Ester, Ryks posted in the other thread as to why there were no kkv's on the Auroras. They were used to power the jump shuttle back to Tamara & for experiments on boosting Auroras jump range. See his post.

What about a Kamikaze Falcon? Set it for auto sequence, and bail out. Losing one Falcon is bad, but a lot less work if it takes out a whole Battle Platform...

We're a bunch of bloodthirsty bastards, aren't we? "Kill 'em! Kill 'em!"

Here is what I'm wondering about...
"Strike Leader, Aurora Actual, identify."
"Aurora Actual, Strike Leader. Major McCullum, formerly of the Corinari... courtesy of Commander Dumar, leader of the Karuzari Nation."

Now why would the strike leader be formerly? The Corinair are part of the alliance right? Also I seem to remember the Karuzari Nation being disbanded and the asteroid being given back to the Corinair unless there was some odd language in some document that allowed the Karuzari to retake ownership of the rock. That's for Ryk to explain, or not. But I'm going to hazard a guess that Tug knows the Nobels of Takara will not want to be shown up by a group of rebels when it comes to providing assistance to the Sol sector.

he was flying karuzari ships, to do so his previous assignment would have been his commission for the corinari, which would change when he accepted the flight leader position of the falcons

Greg (pappy) Boyington flew with the AVG before the start of WW II, to do so he had to resign from the US military.

I think that Karuzara itself is being turned into a jump ship. It will go to the Terran system
Dr Sorenson will be turning Tannan ships into jump ships. She also knows of the idea of jump drive weapons. That brain will not be turned off.

Karuzari is a member of the Alliance. It is mentioned in Episode 6 when Tug asks to join the Alliance. The reason for the pilot saying formally, is that Corinair is not able to officially send support to Earth, while the Karuzari can since they are ran by one man.

I get what people are saying about having to resign a position before accepting another. I guess my point is why would he announce it as such? I think Apoc states it correctly. The Corinair, for what ever reason, political gridlock, we just got the crap bombed out of us, etc. etc., cannot send support so the Karuzari become the back channel method for sending support. I'm doing this on behalf of my people, the (insert place of origin here).

The ironic part of this is that Karuzara is now movable. When the Jung find out more about the Alliance and General Bacca says "These Karuzari seem to have conquered a lot of worlds, they must be a formidable empire." and then he asks "Where is this Karuzara located?" and his aide answers "Everywhere and nowhere General." and General Bacca, in a fit of rage, starts beating his aide about the head and shoulders with a rolled up news paper. bwhahahah

Pro:
Ep 11 - an emotional Roller Coaster
*) The Family reunions
*) when for a page Loki and Josh where MIA
*) The knife fight in Miami
*) when they almost turned their Backs and jumped of to Tanna
All breath taking moments!
Therefore, beautiful Story.

Con:
*) It was a long time since Jan when Ep 10 came out.
I hope we don't have to wait till September for Ep 12.
*) Felt a bit shorter then the others even though it was with 122.000 words the 2nd longest Episode so far.

Some comments to the post of this Thread.

Regarding Telles killing the Major.
Telles saw him coming with a charged weapon, highly emotional and therefore had to judged him likely capable of pulling the trigger.
You don't approach Telles like that. Therefore I see it rather as suicide from the Major and a case of self defence from Telles.
+Would have been more surprised if he would have not shot the Civilians in order to disperse the mob (It was Nathan to pulled the Trigger by telling him to do so). Telles was sent in order to protect the Jump technology from a mob that certainly contained many Jung operatives and that was about to burst through the Gates. Therefore, shooting into the crowd or Jung with Jump drives. Thats a "No Brainier" and the only solution, even if fucked up.

Regarding General Bacca / Moon Base?
There I have a rather vague theory that very likely is far from what Ryk has planed.
Think about that the Earth before the Bio Digital Plague was already a Type 2 Civilisation.
I cant believe that there was not originally already a massive Moon-Base, with a Shipyard and enough living quarters for a couple of million people in order to benefit from the low gravity benefits for interstellar trade and star ship production. That would be an to obvious thing to have for a Type 2 Society with a Moon at their Home Planet.
My guess would be that Bacca pressurised a small section, shielded the emissions and controlled the Jung resistance from its ruins over tight beam laser communication.
+Those Ruins would have been of no logistical interest to Earth before the Jump drive and access to Fabricators, but now it might be a good way to escape the current Fallout on earth by repairing it.

Regarding the KKVs
Thinking about it, I am glad that they have not been used for the Battle Platforms, plus there anyway where none around.
Yes, they might have been able to produce one with help of a Fabricator instead of creating a couple of Plasma Cannons, but in reality I also would have rather gone for the production of a Weapon I can fire over and over then a one of KKV that might or might not work and can hit only one Target.
+I rather think that the first impact of a KKV on Jung society should be on their Home world, as it splits it in two pieces and one can see deep into the core. That would be some crazy Special effects for the day to come when we see it in the Cinemas (or TV).

Regarding Karuzara
Probably better, much better, for Nathan to keep it save in Phentaurus System where it is surrounded by an intact Infrastructure and supportive Society (Corinari) that can work for him. Jumping it into the outer Belt of Sol where it can fall prey to a strike of the Jung would be an unnecessary risk.
