Given Gilardi's Earth-centric views, "Earth First" attitudes, and obvious nationalist tendencies, I'm curious whether anyone else believes we may see a schism in the Alliance with Gilardi's actions leading to the possible isolation of Earth from the rest of the Alliance? Could we possible see a consolidation of power outside the Sol system with Tau Ceti taking a leading role? Gilardi will undoubtedly move against President Scott now that Nathan and his crew have stolen a dozen or so Cobra from Tau Ceti. Does anyone think we'll see a dramatic escape by President Scott and family from Earth to Tau Ceti, fleeing a Gilardi-led coup? Or maybe the arrest of President Scott? Or perhaps the outright assassination of President Scott? Gilardi could easily say that President Scott was "tragically killed in the fighting" when his men came to arrest him. But if Gilardi were to arrest or kill President Scott, I believe Nathan could mount either a rescue mission or a revenge mission.
Political and Military leaders are generally very different types of people, with very different training and experience.
When you put a Politician in charge of running a military, or a General in charge of running a country, you generally get bad results. But that you got into that situation in the first place is a damning indictment of the former Politician/General.
