I really like the Koban series on amazon.
I found Christopher G Nuttall To be pretty good (Thanks Moe): I read Ark Royal, Storming Heaven, and A Learning Experience. I liked them all enough to want to read a sequel.
The Turret and its sequel by James W McAllister are very good.
The Galactic Axia Adventure series by Jim Laughter was ok.
@Al - Nuttall is excellent, I've read most of his books. You can go to www.chrishanger.net and check out some of his older books for free. I like his empire corps series the best but his books are all smooth reads. Try some Heinlein juveniles such as Citizen of the Galaxy, Starman Jones, Between Planets etc. Edmond Hamilton was one of the founding fathers of modern sci fi. His book, The Star Kings was very good as was the direct sequel Return to the Stars. His wife, Leigh Brackett wrote some very good stories as well mainly on a Burroughs like version of Mars. If you want to really understand time travel stories, The End of Eternity by Isaac Asimov is a fine read. Doc Smith was mentioned before, but a Doc Like author was John W Campbell. Campbell was the editor of Astounding (Later Analog) SF from 1937 to his death in 1973(?) but his Don Stuart stories hold up pretty well today. Another old author whose works I really like is Stanley G Weinbaum. His short story, A Martian Odyssey was No 2 best all time short story behind Asimov's Nightfall.
While the Skylark of Valeron and the DQ were huge ships, I think the real kick ass weapons were in the lensman series. There was the sunbeam which could focus the power of the sun to melt a planet, the negasphere which was a plenet sized mass of negative matter and projectile planets. These were created by putting Bergenholms on planets (causing them to have zero inertia) propelling them sometimes via hyperspatial tubes and inerting the planets just prior to them striking the target planet. When the Galactic patrol went after you they went after you. One good thing about the Skylark series was Blackie Duquesne who was one of the best bad guys in early SF. Enjoy your reading.
Thanks, Mike Strong! I went to his website and downloaded the three books in his "Second Chances" series. Just starting it, not sure how it will do, but thanks for the link!
Hi all,
In the last two years I read about 220 Sci-fi books from different authors, most of them series, and all in kindle version.
Here is a list of authors I think would interest you to read while Mr. Brown writes a new episode of his Saga.
Nick S. Thomas: Battle Earth series (11 books), Gaymede series (2 books), Maniacs
Jay Allan: Crimson Worlds Series (11 books)
Jasper T. Scott: Dark Space series (3 books), Escape
Stephen A. Fender: Kestrel Saga (4 books)
Richard Sanders: The Phoenix Conspiracy (4 books)
Raymond L. Weil: Mon Wreck and Slaver Wars series (7 books)
Randolph Lalonde: Spinward Fringe series (9 books)
Phillip Richards: The Union series (3 books)
Christopher Nuttall: Ark Royal (2 books), Martial law (2 books), The Empire Corps (8 books)
R. L. Akers: The Gryphens saga (2 books)
Bob Mayer: Area 51 (12 books - I'm reading the 4th book of the series)
Not mentioning the Mr. Brown Saga that is one of the bests series IMHO, Mr. Nuttall is also an excellent writer as already mentioned here. One thing I should say about Mr. Nuttall Martial Law series is that any similitude with our present reality is just a mere coincidence. 🙂
Personally I really like the Spinward fringe series by Randolph Lalonde and the Slave Wars series by Raymond L. Weil.
I hope this little list give's you something to do while we wait until mail for Episode 11.
Happy Easter to All.

Free books, who doesn't like that? 🙂
Just passed 51% on Second Chances. The author assumes I know a lot more about British history, and WW2 history, than I do, but overall a fun read. I have been sneaking as much time away from work and family as I dare. Looking forward to finishing the first book soon.

Just wanted to move this one to the top of the stack again. Finished the three FREE books of Second Chances. Not as polished as Clancy or some of the other "published" authors, but worth the time. I found myself sneaking time at work, just like I do with Ryk's books. Definitely worth taking a look at.
Thanks again, Mike!
My pleasure Eric.
A good one is nexus odyssey by hylton h smith or deep space endeavor By ron Francis
Evan Currie, Odyssey One, series good reading
#4 and the last of the series comes out July 8.
Odyssey One series, Silver Wings series, And Crimson Worlds are my favorites while waiting for the next episode of FS. Got sick of the Human Chronicles, so stopped reading a couple books ago.
Deep Space endeavor is a good series for anyone interested
Currently reading Ep3 of Nutalls Ark Royal series. Ok series but some dumb plot twists. The blackmailing the CAG thing strikes me as stupid.
Also just read "Ship of Ghosts" about the USS Houston that along with the HMAS Perth was sunk at the battle of Sunda Strait. Both ships fought until their magazines were empty. Pretty intense stuff.
Luis: Thanks for the tip on the Deep Space: Endeavor series. I'm on book 3 now, and enjoying them. Nice diversion while waiting for the next FS episode.
