I'm trying to find the name of a book/series which was likely published in the mid-2000s to early 2010s. It's one of the earlier kindle books I read (or maybe it was paperback and that's why I can't find it), so I doubt it came out after 2013 or so. I decided to ask here as there's a good chance it was read, and I'd probably recommend it to others.
The plot (more like the background) more-less goes like this:
Humanity was forced to flee from the Sol system due to alien invasion via a wormhole (or something like it) that took that far from Earth. For some reason they weren't or couldn't be followed. I'm also thinking the method they used was rather risky, so perhaps it was more that the enemy wasn't inclined to follow. After some time humanity became confident enough to win and returned, and indeed they did well. [This pretty much covers what was in the blurb]
Although, for at least most of the book (if not all of it), it wasn't known what species were flying the human ships. The warfare in the book seemed like it focused on marines, but that might just be due to memory of a space station of some sort being boarded.
I also recall there were given a lot of (superior) technology by another race (the name of which I think starts with a G), and was the signature of that technology that made them a target. There were also several alien races in that book, though I don't recall any of the names.
Overall the plot had some parallels with "Exodus: Empires at war", but I don't think I started on that until after I read the one I'm seeking. Also if it helps, I got the book on Amazon, but don't know if it's still on there.
Thanks in advance, and may the books you read be most enjoyable.
Nevermind, I seem to have found it after looking at the books with less clear titles:
Looks like a third book is due to come out within the next two months.
