Can't come soon enough!!
Eric
I am trying to let my mind wander... it will be a year before #15 comes out, so I need to divert my attention anyways. Check out the "other authors" section for some good reads. Even if we get this one, we'll still be waiting for the one after that. :-/
I'm kind of the same mind Eric. But in this case I know #11 will be out soon and I don't want to get into another book or series of books especially if it is an active series, I already have 3 or 4 where i'm waiting on the next book (Frontiers among them). I do have to give Ryk a lot of credit for pretty much holding to his release schedule. There is at least one author I'm following that has gotten a little spoiled and maybe even arrogant with his new found fame and fortune in e-books. It's longer between books and the books seem to be shorter all the while he keeps bragging about how much money he has made and how simple it is to do. Ryk doesn't brag about his success, unless you take his "I no longer fix computers for a living." comment as a brag. He is quite gracious about his fan base and I've only seen one instance where he might have gotten a little snippy with someone over his use of 'Foul Language'. In my book, Ryk is a regular guy with integrity and and ability to tell a story. But I digress. Usually I will occupy my pre-release time re-reading the last book or couple of books hoping there are answers to my questions. Will the Celestia be ready for when the Jung show up? Will more Ghatazhak show up in time and will their tactics involve a hundred of them launching themselves into space to board a Jung battle station and ruining the Jungs day? Will Jessica survive and will the first thing out of her mouth be 'Foul Language'? Sorry about that last one.
One final thought. I have been using the 'Other Authors while we wait' thread. I have to admit I found some pretty good reads in there. Some things I have already read. Others I have to wonder how they escaped my attention for so long. E.E. Doc Smith... I had never heard of him before this forum. This guy was writing about disintegrating matter to steal it's energy before Einstein won his Nobel. How cool is that!
Heh. E. E.Doc Smith is a classic era giant. For more fun, see if you can find some of the short stories by John Campbell. He is one of the ones who could see the future pretty clearly, despite the rudimentary technology of the day he lived in. There was one short story he wrote that sticks with me 4 years after reading it, where a time traveller had visited the far future (like year 100,000+) and was returning to his origin in the 2100s, but overshot slightly to the 1930s. The scale of the author's vision was very cool.
