Keep in mind my back hurts so took pain meds.... So now I feel a little weird and can't sleep.

Back on topic.

Pod for boarding ships. Main reason capture. It would be based on a jump shuttle. Idea is Jump Drive that can jump a box close in to a ship. With min automatic adjustments to lock on to either a hatch or just the side where the field is extended enough that when they jump a way they make a hole. So close in, pop back. then back in and board. It could then stay or leave. Would not require a pilot. Limited armor and range. Able to do a few short jumps.

I probably did a terrible job describing whats in my head... lol

What's the benefit over the combat shuttles they currently use? I think I see what your getting at, there was something similar in another series. Maybe a plus on the stealth side, but G-men can just cold coast for a million miles. I like the idea of using the jump drive to take a chunk of the ship but a jump torpedo/missile could do that too.

Strap every one in very well, then just ram the ship an instant after you use explosives to make a hole.

Wouldn't work as well as you might think. First, any item that wants to jump has to have motion, otherwise it jumps to the same place. To jump in, make contact, jump out taking a chunk with it, and then jump in again to board thru the new opening would require considerable maneuvering and propulsion systems...in other words, a spacecraft.

A better concept would be to jump in a device at an angle to the target and have it jump away as it makes contact with the target, in much the same way that the Aurora did (accidentally) to the Jar-Keurog. Then just have the pod with the boarding party jump in close and make for the hole.

Still, a bit sloppy when you think about it. But still a viable tactic.

If you can make multiple jumps, parallel to the ship, you'd shave off its outer hull i.e. armor, shield emitters, external sensors, point defenses etc..

What about a simple torpedo with oversized jump emitters? Launch at a ship, and when it gets close overpower the emitters so the take surrounding material. It doesn't have to go anywhere, but if you can take several meters of hull away even an inch, it's no longer useful to the ship. It would separate all the power lines and shield emitters in the affected area and become a collision hazard to its own vessel. The torpedoes are basically line of sight but they can be shielded to penetrate shields. Saturate point defenses with missiles or get close and lucky. Limited I admit but potentially cheap. Would need a self destruct to avoid the Jung capturing them but still, I think it has potential.
