From what I have read so far the 30 seconds that the Plasma torpedoes take to recharge it partly for software checks PLUS recharge time. Ok IMHO that is wayyyyyy too long. A battle could be decided one way or another in that time frame. Why not just put a heavily shielded mini ZPED with each Plasma mounted torpedo unit?? Maybe have them R&D a newer unit that reduces that time frame down to 10 seconds? Just long enough for the software diagnostics to make sure the unit is still functioning correctly.

At least partially it is accumulating a massive amount of energy that you are trying to dump, all at once, into the target. It seems like you could fire in 50% of the time with 50% of the charge.

Or do I have it wrong?

Eric From what I have read in the books the Plasma Torpedoes were not able to do that. The Plasma Cannons are able to. While the Celestia was on that moon of Jupiter they installed the cannon(I refer to Ep# 10). There is a difference between the two. I think the Plasma cannons are kinda like the Railguns. The Plasma Torpedoes are like the missiles?? or like an actual torpedo that the modern day subs fire. Ryk would you please correct me if I am wrong.

Eagle - Pretty close, but the plasma torpedoes are like a dumb bomb than a missile. You can't control the plasma after it has been fired, but with missiles you can. The nukes and conventional torpedoes that the Aurora has are like V2 rockets right now. Point them in the right direction and fire. Lets hope that PC and/or Earth will be able to help the Aurora upgrade her nukes and conventional torpedoes to be able to track targets.

Apoc, I would not count on either the Earth or the PC to help. I guess that the Aurora and Celestia are on there own (see Ep# 10) when the Jung left Earth they bombed the heck out it. The PC is in it's own trouble, when Yanni finally went there the people on Tug's planet were not doing so hot.

They bombed the hell out of major population centers, and they wanted to keep the planet with it's production, they may of skipped over the more important area's. The main resource Earth has though, is personnel. The Alliance has 3 ships in Earth's orbit that needs crewed and repaired, and those personnel will help allot.

It would also be interesting if a fabricator could make another fabricator.

They have already demonstrated that a fab can build another fab. They just need to start the process, then let the rule of squares take over... It might take a while, but soon enough the Earth will be pumping out material as fast as the miners can extract it.

It is more efficient to build space ship components in space and Sol has a plenty of asteroids for mining. I would have to assume that EDF mainly used the asteroid belt to get the materials, so it is possible that the manufacturing facilities were not affected at all. I hope they have a hollow asteroid that they can use or have used to at least 'hide' stuff in. Like extra railgun ammo. If not, the Defender Class ships can always be used as material to jump start repairs. Not much else they can be used for now.
