First time poster. Love all the books, currently on Chapter 3 Episode 5!

Does anyone know if it would alright for me to make 3D models of the ships and other items from the books? I was looking around on Thingiverse and Printables and I couldn't find anything. I was wondering if there was reason for this? I would love to put the work in and make some models off the concept arts. I also looked on Etsy and there was nothing there either. I think it would be awesome to have a little model of the Aurora or the Falcon on my desk at work. And would it be okay if I sold the printed models? Lots of questions I know. Sorry. I just think this would be an awesome project.

I would think it would be okay if you tried to make 3D models out of the images that appear on the website and book covers.  BUT - trying to sell them as a business will definitely (maybe) get you into hot water!

I can get you the Blender file from my graphics guy. You're free to make it for yourself. As far as selling it to others, that would require approval of the final product quality and workmanship, and some sort of licensing agreement. But it's certainly worth discussing. Hell, I've always wanted models of the Aurora and a few other ships in my own office to look at while I write, I just never had the time to make them.

@rykbrown I understand if it is too early for this request, but I'm super interested in concept art from Ep 3. There has been so much that has happened, it'd be super cool to see your vision of what all of these new ships and patches would look like!

@rykbrown I would love to get the blender file as well, no commercial intent here, personal use only.

Thanks @rykbrown

Totally understand the licensing agreement and such, I don't even know if I would really ever get to the selling part anyways but definitely something I thought about and thought I should ask. Definitely lots of work to even get them good enough to sell.

If you don't mind sending your models over that would be super awesome. If I can request the Aurora, Falcon, Corinari Fighter, Eagle, Jung Fighter. If I can ever get something to print and paint (this being the hard part for me) to look good, I'll definitely post it up here and see if I can send you one.

Thank you for your time

@jloertscher I too have a 3D printer.  It is a Bambu Lab P1S - currently capable of printing in 4 colors.  In the future, if you get the Okay to print this, I could help in the printing process - understanding I would be bound by the same licensing provisions!
