I'm sorry Ryk, There is a rather large math error in Chapter 4 location 2361. The text reads "twenty thousand Kilometers". That would make the location 12427 miles above the earth. If you drop the Kilo from kilometers the height would be 12.4 miles above the earth. A much better location (66000- Feet) in the middle of the HILO drop.

I found three minor bugs, but I will have to re-read to catch them again. They weren't bad. Ryk's proofreaders helped the experience this time.

I'd like to see Ryk re-publish the older books, though. I have only seen it once, but an author can re-publish in order to update content. I'd like to eliminate the bugs in those ones.

I've noticed at least one case where it should probably be "Celestia" but is "Celestial".

Metric system would probably make more sense for everyone to use as a universal measuring system because it is one ten millionth the distance from the equator to the north pole at sea level and therefore is the same for everyone. These days, a foot is measured as a fraction of a meter. Or metre if you are not American.

Probably because EVERY. SINGLE. COUNTRY. EXCEPT. AMERICA. USES. METRIC.

Of course, every single other country has healthcare coverage for all, high-speed bullet trains, net neutrality on their actually high speed broadband internet connections...

It is so embarrassing to be an American sometimes. 🙁

Dude,

To quote the great
MC Hammer " been round the world from London to Bombay". It is not nearly as nice over there as you think nor was it as bad in the States as they let on. It is all a manipulation to make you want to embrace more intrusive government.

The metric system is nice but there is something to be said about tradition. Things do not always improve with "progress".

For purposes of science, space flight, accuracy in measurement, as well as the ease of using a base ten system, metric is superior to US units of measure, just as Kelvin is more accurate than Fahrenheit or Celsius.

Someday, we will all be metric. But of course, we in the US will be the last hold out.

Gary,

As a genuine American Patriot and former Sergeant in the USMC, I've travelled to:
Australia
Belgium
Canada
China, including Hong Kong & Macao
Czech Republic
Egypt
England
France
Germany
Guam (kind of U.S.)
Honduras
Israel
Italy
Japan
Mexico
Netherlands
New Zealand
Okinawa
Switzerland

I submit that I know something about the subject of how backwards we are here in this country. Let the debate begin!

There's also something to be said about unit conversion skills that you don't really get with metric. Also, with computers it doesn't really matter as long as there is agreement in the system to be used. Then again, on the note of using computers, it should be noted that computers can't exactly describe large amounts of base 10 numbers in base 2. So it might be better to switch to a base 2 system rather than base 10 for accuracy purposes if one wants to get technical and scientific. Base 2 is also a fair bit easier to do math in.

Interesting fact, a conversion error from imperial (us) to metric caused a mars rover to crash into the surface at orbital speeds...
