When going to battle stations on current US warships, you have fire retardant clothes, helmets (Where appropriate), life vests and gas masks. There were plenty of emergency oxygen hoods around because smoke inside a sealed off ship is as deadly as fire. The chair at the console I manned in CIC had a seat belt. I’d think that effective battledress for space would be a priority for the Aurora’s crew (light duty space suits?). At least bungee yourself to the deck so you don’t bounce off the overhead.

That having been said I grew up watching Trek and visualizing the crew flying about with sparking control panels when the ship is hit is part of the fun. Oh, and the communications officer would still be required to wear an Uhura mini-skirt.

Do a quick search on YouTube for Wil Wheaton doing a dramatic reading of Redshirts, and you'll find that electrical burns from control panels is the second leading cause of death for young ensigns in the StarFleet. 🙂
