Welcome to the first ever Frontiers Saga website! We’ve been working on it for some time now. It’s been difficult to find the time, especially with such a frantic writing schedule. A lot of the time was due to the fact that I really wanted to get the designs of the Aurora worked out so that the exterior shots would be accurate. (It’s not easy to design a ship after you’ve already written about it.) We plan on adding so much more to the site over the next year, like ship designs, deck plans, technical drawings, even uniform patches! (Gotta have uniform patches!) We’re even working on a wiki-style database that visitors can peruse to discover information they might have missed, or forgotten, from the episodes. (It is a long series, after all.) My goal is to make the site an interactive playground for followers of the series. I want this site to be the kind of site that I always wished my favorite sci-fi authors would have.
It’s been a long and painstaking process to get this far. The rate at which I can grow the site depends largely on the amount of time and money that I can afford to spend. This stuff is all far beyond my capabilities to create. (I can think stuff up, but drawing it and such is far beyond my skill set.) Thankfully, the series has finally grown enough in popularity that I can afford to start pumping money into the site development at a regular rate in order to add several new items per month. (Without getting my wife mad at me.)
One of the upcoming features I’m really looking forward to are the 3D star charts. It took us a while to find the right code package so that the charts would have the capability to expand as the saga travels farther out into the galaxy. It will take us a few more months to work out the bugs and get all the system data entered, but once we do, you’ll be able to zoom around and explore the Frontiers Saga universe at will.
I invite you all to use the forums, as I will be frequenting them. All of you give me ideas and inspiration to continue pouring my heart and soul into this story. Without your support and input, none of this would be possible. For this, I am more grateful than you can possibly imagine. All of you have allowed me to live my dream. As I have promised before, as long as there are still people reading them, I will keep writing them.
Finally, I want to thank the team at Streetlight Graphics. They have put up with constant notes and endless, detailed explanations. They have suffered through countless revisions and long screen-sharing sessions in order to get even the tiniest detail right. Their efforts and dedication to help me bring what I see in my head onto the screen are priceless. In fact, they have made many of my ideas exponentially better through their creativity. Without them, I would not be able to share this with you.

I have enjoyed the series eminsley. I have finished 10 already. I was a little disappointed in this episode. You have greatly increased the amount of foul language. That is one of the things I liked about your books. So may sci-fi writers use too much language and that is a real turn off. You are writing in the furture, I would hope that the human race will have over come the need to use that kind of language. And even still I believe our fiction writers can instill that into their books. It does not enhanse the story in any way and for me greatly retracts from it.
I have gone around and around with many people over this issue. The plain fact of the matter is that the majority of people in extreme, high-stress conditions, use foul language. They are just words, adjectives that punctuate the stress the speaker is feeling at the time. They are not there to enhance the story, they are there because that is what the character is likely to say at that particular moment. One of the things that I never liked about Star Trek was that the characters were all too goody goody. The characters in BSG were not. They swore, and far more often than my characters do. The producers just chose to make up a different word to get by the censors, however the meaning of the word was exactly the same, and they made it quite apparent that that was the case.
I can guarantee you that foul language will exist in the future, as it has existed for thousands of years, and in hundreds of languages. It is a form of human expression. While I have reduced the use of it, (ask anyone who served, they use it constantly) I shall continue to use such language where appropriate, and for appropriate characters. If that offends you, I am sorry. But again, they are just words. They only possess the offensive power that you chose to give them.

Ryk, great series. The people that complain about the language have never been in the service in situations where it’s a 50/50 crap shoot if you’re gonna come out alive. I have 26 yrs under my belt in the service. Trust me, when the crap hits the fan you will do and say things you never thought possible. I don’t think this part of human nature will ever change.
Keep up the good stories, they are enjoyable.
I also agree with you, Ryk, about the language of shock,pain,fear,etc. It certainly is not “darn” or “track”! It definitely flows with the story.
I agree with Ryk on this point. Foul language does not enhance the storytelling, but makes it seem more real and relatable. Foul language is a part of our every day life, weather we like it or not. As Ryk says, “they are just words”, I don’t understand people that get all up in arms about words, yet use other words in place of “foul language” to stress a point or just curse when they stub their toe. Words get their meaning from how you use them, no word is “bad”.

I have greatly enjoyed all the books in the series so far and cannot wait for the next book. I wish you could release them sooner. You’ve given some physical description (whether its the fact that tey are really tall as in the case of Vlad) of some of the characters but I can’t remember you ever describing Nathan. How would you describe Nathan? What colour hair and eyes does he have or how tall is he, or is he muscular or thin or in between? I gather you would probably want the reader to form their own opinion on this but I am curious to know how you see him in your mind.
I got through the first three books and knew I was onto a winner so I bought the other seven in the series. I haven’t read a science fiction series this good in a long time. I finish one book and can’t wait even a day to start the next one. I’ve been taking my Kindle to bed to read them and I’ve never done that before now. Keep them coming, Ryk.

I’m looking forward to the next instalment, it’s a struggle to put your books down. In particular I think you strike the right balance between drama and action, while keeping the technology and battle sequences believable without getting bogged down in the physics etc.

Thanks for the great reads. I was wondering if the next book would be out the first week of May? I have checked Amazon and I do not see the publishing date of Ep# 11. If you could take a look at the comments I left for future books. I am a avid Scifi reader (or as my wife would say rabid LOL) I have read the series twice so far and have enjoyed it immensely.

Just finished the last installment a few days ago. Both my son and I are hooked on the series and look forward to the next installment.
One impression I had as I read through the last installment Ashes related to perspective. The story is being told from one side only. The human side and their allies.
Have you considered introducing a Jung villain? We had some mayhem in Ashes, from my perspective is might have been an added “flare” for the reader hearing from the Jung side as their shields were picked apart and their deaths were approaching and the frustration approaching. Their desire to send word back to other Jung. A consideration for you perhaps in future installments. Many possible places you could take the ark perhaps. And of course .. we need a new Falcon!!!
Appreciate the longer stories. Too many authors shorten stories.

Ryk….also a huge fan of the series. Being a long time avid Science Fiction reader, I know the frustration of picking up on a new series, only to have long pauses between issues. Of course I have also done some reading about publishing and understand the challenges of authors bringing out new stories. Kudos to the speed with which you are publishing them (even if your fans wish they would come out every month! 🙂 )

i have to say that i have been a sci-fi all my life. My wife bought me a kindle for Christmas and I immediately starting searching for books to read. I came across the the man of war series ( as to which there is 2). I really enjoyed these books, but I had a hard time finding another series that I could sink my teeth into. After several disappointments and half read books, I stumbled across your first three books in a bundle.
Needless to say I was immediately hooked after the first couple of chapters. I read the first three books in 2 weeks. I have never enjoyed a series as much as I have yours. Your writing has a superb mix to it, for which makes the stories flow perfectly. The characters are outstanding!
I have just finished episode 11 and anxiously await the episode 12. I have a high stress job that takes a great deal of my time, but your books has been a great outlet for me. For that Sir I say thank you.

Ryk, I have thoroughly enjoyed all 11 episodes. Do you know when the next one is due out? I realize that getting them through the publishers is sometime a hassle. Anxiously waiting!!!
If you don’t already know this….but trad published publishers/authors get their full 70% when in KU. Even the likes of Hugh Howey get the full 70%. That’s the reason I pulled my four titles from Select/KU.
I went to D2D and now I’m almost earning what I did at the Zon. If it gets any better I will remove all my titles from Amazon completely, but then I don’t have your following.
I tried dangling the idea of getting ‘preferential rates’, but the might Zon didn’t bite. That’s why everything is going up on Google and Apple through January and February.
I wouldn’t pull your stuff off of Amazon, just out of Select/KU. No reason to take down work that is making money. (Throwing the baby out with the bathwater, and all that.)
Well for me there principals involved. I pretty much despise Amazon. Everything that they offer including books can be had cheaper elsewhere if people just look.
If you don’t play their game your ratings hit the cellar, well fine, I’m doing better now without them.
Love your books (I’m sure you hear this often)! I tore through the Frontier Saga in my usual fashion with an author I like, and here I am..searching Amazon for #14…This will be difficult to wait for!
